22nd Kick Off 2 World Cup | Travel and Car Shares?

Post by durban »

Guys,

Just starting a thread for people to arrange to share transportation.

Would be nice to know, especially from UK guys, who will be travelling by car from different locations and may be up for giving lifts, or picking up from Airports/train stations/Car parks or whatever to help our overseas friends out.

I know we have people arriving/departing from Manchester Airport (I can pick up a few but anyone else who passes near on Monday give a friendly shout out!!!)

Also a few people travelling to/from Gatwick and Heathrow as well as Stanstead and Luton so any Southern KOA'ers who maybe have a spare seat on Monday morning and who doesn't mind dropping off there would be really good.

Maybe just post you requirements if you would LIKE a lift and see who shouts out!

Current Needs / Agreements

Currently arranged -
  • Jorn from Manchester to Nottingham on Friday (ARRANGED)
  • Alkis, George, Vasilis From Manchester to Nottingham on Friday (ARRANGED)
Still outstanding -
  • Jorn from Nottingham to Gatwick by Monday 7am
  • Alkis, George, Vasilis to Manchester for Monday 3pm
  • BlazeJ from Leeds (3pm) or Stansted (5pm)

Hello! Vasilis, George M and I arrive at Manchester on Friday at 12:10. The plan is for Mark to pick us up on his way to Nottingham.

We'd appreciate a ride back on Monday if anyone has room. We are flying at 17:40.
Remember, remember, the 4th and the 3rd of November

I will be picked up from Manchester Airport Wednesday. And I'm happy for Mark to announce that he's going to be my designated driver.

On Monday I'll need to get to Gatwick crazy early it seems. I'm leaving Gatwick at 9:55. Either getting to Gatwick during the night, or go there late Sunday and grab a few hours sleep on a hotel near the airport.

I have agreed to pick up Jorn and the Greeks and we will be heading to the Hotel for around 3pm on Friday.

Unfortunately I haven't yet told Alkis that he will be travelling on the Roof-Rakis.....

I have updated the first comment with current requirements outstanding.

Great idea. I'll be driving from Preston on the Friday so I can get three people from Manc Airport any time. And I'll be having dinner and lots of coffee on Sunday but not staying in the hotel, instead setting off home around midnight. Could take you then Jørn?

Nice offer Ian, but I'm afraid you'll have to recheck your geograpy-lessons. I'll be needing to get to Gatwick Airport sunday night. That would give you quite a round-trip.

Also for awareness the hotel has 28 small spaces you can book but quite expensive and hard to get....

There are 2 ncp's within 2/5 mins

St James Street is about a 5 min walk and will cost you 59 quid from 3pm Friday until 3pm Monday if pre-booked online

mount Street is a little nearer, 2 mins and will cost 79 quid for the same time frame if pre-booked

Thanks durban, I think I'll try Broad Marsh bus station car park, for the first day at least, because it appears to have lots of electric car chargers. Hi Jørn, oh yeah that changes things a bit!

Hi guys!

I have a choice of arriving on Friday at Leeds 3:15 PM or London Stansted 5:10 PM.

Can anyone pick me up at either of these airports on Friday?

Ian, maybe we can split our passengers from Manchester.

At the moment I will be taking 4, my car should fit them ok but they may prefer a bit more legroom I dunno.

They get to Manchester around 12ish so we could meet up at the car park and fight over who gets the best passengers

Stansted is probably 3 hours drive on Friday so if you arrive at 5 you probably won't get to Nottingham until around 9pm as a best bet.

Leeds should be nearer but not sure who is based in Yorkshire to pick you up on the way past.....have added to the list on first post tho

Looking at Stansted you can get a train to London then a train from London back to Nottingham, would be about 3 hours in total.....but you then have to get back to Stansted on Monday I guess.

Leeds is actually more trains but takes about 2hr 50 on trains in total (2 hour drive if someone can pick you up)

Could really do with some people stepping up and helping out?

Still need options, particularly around Blaze?
