Can I change my mind about this friendly online tourney?

Only kidding... :D

I've only played KO2 online once (against Steve too) - my first online experience ever. I lost 1-2 so maybe I'm as good as Alkis!?!

Seriously, though, I couldn't quite put my finger on the differences so wondered what you thought now, Alkis ? Earlier you made an interesting point about timing of the headers .... is it a case of adapting our 'native' timing, so to speak ?

From the three KOA tourneys I've attended so far, I've always 'felt' quite a differerence between winuae and amiga KO2. Hopefully pick up an amiga in the near future anyway...

It all depends on your ping time, really. Camber told me that 20ms=1 frame, so with my usual 80ms I get a 4 frame delay. If I play against someone who has 20ms, I have a 3 frame disadvantage.
The best way to understand this is to try to take a penalty during an online game. If I push the button when the arrow was centered, the player kicks the ball out. In order to score, I had to push it when the arrow was as far away from the ball as possible!

Hmmm, do the games not get synchronised so that both players expience in the same way? If not, then online play is useless for ranked games as both players are not on a level field.

I'm keen to try it out though as it could be fun. It remains to see how much benefit it will be in the grand scheme of things though. If you have to play differently to play online, then it could affect the offline game too badly.

Unless both players have the exact same ping, they do not experience it in the same way.

If thats the case then...well, it doesent seem all that good now. :? It doesent seem to effect SWOS all that much. Perhaps Kick Off 2 is unsuited to online gameplay because of how fast it is?

Hehe, really crazy to calculate the delay in frames ;) Never thought about it... Well, there are always delay in any online-game, whatever you play over the internet, normal! And this delay depends on your ping to the game-server. So, if you have better ping, you have a better reaction time of your joystick movement. That's all! But both players see the same (synchronized) screen. But in case of SWOS experiences I really can say that this is only an adaptation, you can reach a very high level anyway. There are some players who play with 80ms just like offline, they are used to play with this little delay.

I think with all versions of Kick Off there are slight differences. When I played gdh82 on the Amiga the other night it had a different feel to the Emulators. For some of the established players, the online arena feels different still.

But if the online was kept seperate to offline (which is what ss.de do) then it can only help KO2 online I reckon. Be interesting to see who's better at home and who's better on the meet ups :)

Plus, it'l give us a chance to play Alkis without paying a fortune in air fair..of course, im sure it would be nice to visit Greece anyway - but if you'r short on cash...

Of course, even though both players see the same synchronized screen, this doesn't mean that they lpay on equal terms; the player with the better ping has the advantage. Anyway, as I alread said, I 'll try again to play, hoping that I have less ping.

Guys, in my book online Kick Off is 'good enough'. You didn't expect it to be perfect, did you?
I reckon that if Spyros and I try playing at 85.196.0.132:27888 (Greek server), we'll manage pings of 20-30ms, and play at almost offline speed without having to put up with each other's anyone presence!
