Hi there,

some information about the stickers for the low emission zones can be found here:
http://www1.adac.de/Auto_Motorrad/Umwel ... eID=149642
http://www1.adac.de/images/FTKInfo_Stickers for foreign-registered vehicles_tcm8-209333.pdf

Perhaps the easiest way to get an sticker could be an authorised car dealer / licensed garage ("Vertragswerkstatt") of your car manufacturer, which is allowed to hand out those stickers.
They should be able to obtain the data to your car quick, if they are big enough.

Or just risk it - you have a foreign plate, that might help. Could put a sign in the window (best if actually true) "car fulfils standard for green sticker".

Alex is right. Just risk it. The chance that they hunt down a german without these silly stickers is at 0.00001% If they see that you are from Sweden the chance will drop significantly.

What a mess, seriously i dont have time with this. If you consider chance is less that one 1% (Alex, would your guess be similiar as Sascha or at least -5%?) then i will take that risk. If byrocracy would strike me, wich would not surprise me, how far would it be to reach closest "sticker-terminal" from just outside Dusseldorf?

Thanks in advance.

These infamous stickers are only needed within bigger cities. Not on the Autobahn. So the "risk" is only on the last few miles. I have never seen any controls for these stickers. I myself did not use the sticker on my car as I find it ugly. Nothing happened. In two years. And I drive in Frankfurt and Stuttgart (which was the first city to start this Bulls***).

Besides the locations that someone else already sent you, you could as well go to an official car dealer. Which car do you have? If you have an Audi (for instance) you would need to go to an Audi dealer. It will cost you 5 EUR. Probably nothing, but that depends on the dealer.

But I tell you: Risk it. You can ask me for compensation if you should get into trouble

Btw. when I travelled to Gianni for some tournament and we drove back on Sunday, there was a car-free sunday in all major Italian cities (I think). We were the only ones driving a car, besides Taxis and Busses. We were not completely sure if this did count for foreigners, but we managed to escape :)

I've driven around in the Umweltzone in Munster without the stickers a number of times, also without any problems.
And should you actually manage to get caught: The fine is 40 Euro's...

It's fun to hear the germans getting crazy like this!

No, seriously, here in Greece if they wanted to do such a stupid thing they would have a 700 euro fine just to get our attention and consider getting the sticker. And after a few months no one would remember it.

I believe the fine is large enough to gain you a point at the central registry, so at least 40 Euros. And any traffic warden can notice it. So for a German, parked inside a city for 3 days, I think chances aren't that low... hopefully lower with a foreign car.

An idea would be to park outside the zone (=inner city) and switch to public transport. I don't know Düsseldorf, but allowed parking in the inner city of Berlin without being a resident of a specific area (=another sticker) has become quite rare. Probably the best idea. You could look out for P+R, parking lots next to local train stations, just like in Britain.

German only, but on this page you find two PDFs with the zone and with the P+R options:

I kept out of this thread as I wasn't going to be attending the world cup but it's been very interesting reading.

For what it's worth, Option C should have been named differently. It should have just been, auto-slides removed completely.

Seriously, who's going to play a match keeping the slides when their opponent turns them off? You would just end up playing KO2 while you're opponent is playing "Kick Off for dummies", (thanks Gianni  ).

Unlocked.

This could have overshadowed the post WC euphoria, hence the lock. Feel free to continue the discussion.
