KO2 PC project
Just testing the water here..
I believe we have the technology to run KO2 on a PC and enhance it WAY beyond what can be achieved within the limitations of the amiga.
My vision is to use WinUAE in the background to emulate KO2 (from the point where the players come on to the pitch to the point where they leave). With that running invisibly in the background, our application (which builds upon the winuae source) would set up the game, feed in the input and display the players etc using data extracted from the internal emulation. Gameplay would be identical.
Anyone with a bit of programming knowledge can add to the project, and therefore development would be much faster than we have seen with KO2.
I would not imagine this to ever become a replacement for KO2 on Amiga, but instead be a cool thing for us as a community to develop for fun inbetween tournaments.
Your thoughts please..

Amazing!
There is always the risk that this networked online gameplay of KO2 can hinder and gradually slow-down the holding of "proper" tournaments
... but flip side is, that more and more people from across the world will play it!!!
And this could in turn lead them to actually coming to the meets and proper tournaments!?
GO FOR IT!!

This has always been a limitation of KO2. Free movement would be a great thing to try out.
This could be an optional feature, although aftertouch and control of chips/lobs would have to be looked at. Maybe finally make use of all those fire buttons!

Let's face it - our Amigas will die one day ... and then we'll be reduced to playing over WINUAE ...
... why not start the preservation now ... on our terms ?
Out of interest Steve, with the additional power of the PC, what sorts of enhancements can you foresee us implementing? Better GFX? Better sound? More menu options? Saving goals directly to DIVX format?
Let us know so we can let our imaginations run wild!

The advantage of the PC is the stupid amount of power we can throw at the game. With no video or sound output to worry about accurately reproducing, winuae would fly along leaving today's PCs with not much else to do apart from pump out some sweet visuals and audio while juggling some network comms.
The possibilities are endless. Not only autosaving goals as DIVX, but autouploading them to GoogleVideos Remote play, online leagues, full management, team editor, full match replays , surround sound, different cameras, free kick visual aids, more end game stats than you could ever find a use for... we just need to decide on what we want.

Nice Idea but I'm not so sure about WinUAE, I use it and I have the Catweasel board in my PC. The winUAE limit the input lag/delay. Using any kind of controller like real amiga joystick mounted on catweasel or amiga gameport cable adapter/parallel port gable adapter/keyboard/pc joystick on game port/USB PC Joystick on USB port: there is a terrible lag.
If you try to play kickoff on winUAE you can feel that lag. so I don't like to play KO2 on winUAE. Besides this one, I'm sure that the greater part ou us have got an LCD Monitor connected to PC. The LCD Monitor add a lag of 10ms... This is the reason because I've got one amiga mounted in my room and other 2 amiga in lumber-room...
