Newbie - What version do I need to be playing to get up to s

Postby philipdstewart » Mon May 28, 2012 11:42 pm

Guys(and gals),
I've been lurking for many years but finally got round to registering on here(found a great thread on Matchday 2 vs KO2 and must admit my loyalty was torn briefly).
Anyway, I'm a little lost and would appreciate a pointer in the right direction (which i hope is not back where I came from).

I used to play Kick off 2 on my ST and loved it - nothing gave me more pleasure than injuring R. Shaw.

Anyway(x2), having come on the forums there seems to be a KO 2002 forum(what's that) and classic but with different versions etc.
Pretty confusing.

Now I'm not quite as clueless as I seem as I have downloaded WINUAE before(years ago) and also WinXXX kaillera or something similar over 5 years ago, I do have a couple of competition pro USB joysticks etc but I'm interested in getting back into KO2 and would appreciate advice on what version I need to be playing to get up to speed and get involved with the online games etc(and I even the world cup) - Scotland were always crap in the game so I could happily represent Scotland in real life.

Anyway - Hi to all - sorry as I am sure I could find the right information if I trawl enough through the forums.

Thanks,
Phil

Welcome to the forum, Phil :)

I'd suggest starting with KO2CV, the competition version we use that's packed with KO2 goodness. For more on setting up and online play check out my red signature link.

In time you might want to also look up your nearest KOA'ers and where the KO2 action is. The first step is posting, the real fun begins when you join in! 8)

Cheers

I was thinking this the other day ... maybe we should rearrange the layout of the main forum room ... KO2002 was a long time ago ... all the action these days is under Bench and Tournaments

Hi,

You would have to await Steve C to give a reply here. Basically, all your wishes of Kick Off 2 action will/can come true with your Competition Pro USB joysticks, and then it may just take off from there.

Kick Off 2002 was an effort to recreate all the best of Kick Off 2. But these days, it's essentially all about the original Kick Off 2, and that's where all the action is.

PS. Don't hack down my Shaw.

Welcome to the forum! :) WinUAE can be tricky initially but do stick at it - it'll be worth it in the end. :D

Like Gaz says you'll need the rom file, and hopefully the step-by-step from Alkis will help. Check your settings against below but any more questions, just post.

ROM 1.3 is probably a good starting point, let us know how you get on :)
