Postby Freshmaker » Tue Dec 12, 2006 12:12 am

Hi Foxy. If you'd like to implement snowy pitch, here's a pic from this seasons last homegame in Tromsø...

That's no football pitch! You can clearly see the men behind the goal using their skiing poles ;)

I don't think Gerie is ever around here anymore.
I also PM'ed him about a year ago, but got no reply.
Maybe he moved to a more snowy forum?
One that's about the development of a skiing game perhaps ;)

You also once told you had dynamic weather in your personal version of TI.
To what level did you implement this and is it still usable for future versions?

yes i did implement dynamic condition but i honestly think it cannot work for 2 reasons:
- too much complex (CPU power):it calculates the amount of rain fall down, if it is above a pitch limit than there will be some kind of pool in the pitch. Otherwise (amount rain under the limit) the pitch is wet. Everything is so complex.
- GFX: i need to remake rain and snowy pitch

I think it's better remake weather since i can program something better

If the dynamic weather is CPU heavy, then it would be nice to have it as an option. People with high-end PC's can then benefit from all the beauty and people with low-end machines don't get punished. As an alternative you could have a much more simpler model that just uses a different pitch for the whole match according to the weather conditions for that matchday.

But what I really would like to know is what makes it so complex?
The routines to check what should happen with the pitch?
Or the different spots on the pitch that need to be changed graphically?
Just curious :) and maybe I can help you think of a solution that makes things simpler :?:
