KOA - The lost tapes!

Post by manicx »

I recently started looking at the content of old VHS and Video 8 tapes. Discovered two gems that I converted to files and uploaded in Youtube. Enjoy!

I see the videos . It s great. Sad to be not there 20 years ago.

How did you do to find different People of the world to play a world cup at the beginning of 2000?
At this period, i had no smartphone and at my parents' house, I could use the internet for 1 hour a day :-)

Here's what happened, in a nutshell: Four guys from Angeren, Holland decided to start a Kick Off forum in the beginning of 2001. They posted about it in forums of the era, and contacted people who had related websites (for instance, I had a small Kick Off 2 section in my homepage). Word got slowly around, and people started joining and discussing on the forum.

The real breakthrough was when they contacted Anco and found Steve Screech. Steve became a regular in the forum, he started developing a new game using the members as beta testers and offered to organize the first World Cup. Things picked up from there and evolved year by year.
Remember, remember, the 4th and the 3rd of November

Aye! I found the forums through the boards surrounding the field when trying to play Kick Off 2002 on my PC. I couldn't get the game to work properly and Acclaim Software, who released the game, didn't bother answering my desperate cries for help. I searched up the forums and was totally blown away by the world of Kick Off floating around here. Stayed on ever since.

I can't believe I didn't notice this until now!

Funny to see myself smoking in Athens. We all look so young, it is lovely. Thank you very much, Nikos!
