Bryan Singer making a Tom Cruise film first, then the next Superman one...

There were nasty rumours going around that there would be no sequel...
This was due to the latter site above getting their info wrong and spreading rumours.

But its confirmed now that Superman is set for the big screen in 2 years!!

Didn't catch Superman Returns at the cinema but hoping to watch it v. soon on dvd. I always liked Christopher Reeves but I hear the new film supposed to be really good too - only saw the trailer where the bullet bounces off his eye! 8) 8) 8)

Why is it called the movie thread if it's only about the new superman movies? Or is it? I heard Superman returns is disappointing and anyway, I was never a fan of superman in the first place, I'm more a Batman fan myself.

And Pee? Is that your own very short review of Pan's Labyrinth?

Its not just about Superman movies of course! :) Its just we keep talking about them!

Besides Pee talked about Pan's Lab (if only briefly ;) ) and you mentioned Batman, and Sid helpfully included a link of future releases:

Superman Returns was enjoyable enough for what it is but it is not a great film and this is coming from a Superman fan.

Batman Begins is an excellent and much better film than SR. Because it is such a good movie, I believe it would be enjoyed by fans and non-fans. I can't see a non-Superman fan enjoying SR too much.

Thanks Mark, I thought as much. Plus I happen to have a very good friend who really loves movies, goes to the cinema extremely often and whose judgement I trust. So if he tells me a movie is disappointing (as he did with SR), then I'm pretty sure I don't need to bother - maybe I'll still download the movie* or watch it on telly and very rarely I find our opinions differ.

*That's btw the reason I watched 300 at home. This friend went to the cinema to see it and didn't like it much. And again, I agree.

As for Pan's Labyrinth: I do wonder how some scripts manage to attract enough money to finance a whole movie. I'm glad somebody is crazy enough, otherwise we'd never see anything original. This one is definitely original and that's a good enough reason for the movie to exist. Doesn't mean I like it, I actually don't, not my cup of tea.

I am really looking forward to:

Spider-Man 3:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pict ... der-man_3/
looks awesome!!!!!!!!

Batman: The Dark Knight:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIyy8N-9 ... ed&search=

Afro Samurai, starring Samuel L Jackson... looks interesting! The potential to be a real flop, but I hope not!! An animated movie:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JdzlRY48w8

BTW, the new Superman film is thought to be shorter, and much more action packed, with more than one villain. The lovey-dovey story is kinda out of the way... and they're gonna get down to some real pow-wow! lol

A Review

Film : The Lion King II; Simba's Pride

Watched : 24/03/07

Format : DVD

Score : 7/10

Review : Good film, but has too many songs. The first Lion King was much better. Kids will like it though!! Still worth watching...

No Alex, I plaguerised most of it. ;)

Like you say, very original. Was hoping to to see his previous film "The Devil's Backbone" which is meant to be an older brother sibling film to "Pan's", before seeing "Pan's" but they didn't have the Del Torro boxset in Asda

I enjoyed it, although it was shorter than I thought it would be. Sometimes films are overlong but I think they could have stretched it out a bit. Very dark film with great acting and great visuals. I'm with you Alex in that it's not really my type of film but I thought it was great nonetheless.

Film : Saw III (unrated)

Watched : 24/03/07

Format : DVD

Score : 2/10

Review : Crap! Started off thinking its gonna be gruesome, and the concept is, but it just ain't realistic enough to make you believe, or get scared. Its just blood and gore but no emotion. Wife and I turned it off after about 40 mins or so cos we found it really boring. I don't know if it makes a difference to watch the previous films or not (we didn't), but we just found it a waste of time... (abit like England playing football?)
