Player Manager ST

Postby nevster01 » Fri Jun 20, 2003 12:20 pm

I have Player manager for the ST and I read on one of the forums that there is a disk available which will enable me to use an Atari ST on a PC. Is this true?

Hi nevster,

Not sure if an ST disk can be read on the PC (I think it can as if I recall they are the same format) but you can definately get an Atari St emulator for the pc and then play Player Manager with a PC compattible file.

I probably have the file somewhere if you need it and you can get plenty of ST emulators on the net (someone else will tell you the best ones as I normally just use Amiga emulators)

For what its worth, I don't think there is a difference between the real thing and an emulator nowadays, even the Amiga is pretty spot on emulated on the PC, and the best thing is you can set it up so you don't wait for the disks to load etc...

The better spec your pc the better the emulation I guess, but most modern pcs should run an ST emulator 100% perfect.

Cheers,

Mark

If you need the emulator (STeem is the best), a TOS rom to use with the emulator and Player Manager for the ST in a disk image, just let me know. The game runs perfectly on the emulator. The only problem will be the joystick problem. Better check the KO2 forums regarding how to buy a decent joystick for the PC...

:D Many thanks for that, I will try either an ST or Amiga emulator.

Nevster, I think if you use an Emulator you will be able to email your teams and things to friends as a disk image.

There are other benefits over a 'real' machine as well loading times can be reduced etc.

Any problems there are plenty on here who use both machines as emulated on the PC.

Cheers,

M

But what about compatibility on the emulators? Can I take a Player manager side and play it on Kick Off 2 and Return to Europe data disk like I can on my ST?

Yes,

Basically what you do is that the emulator allows you to create a 'blank disk' basically as a file on your pc.

The Emulator will treat this file like an actual blank disk.

So when you save a game you need to eject the game disk (again this is emulated, normally you press something like F5 to get the disk access screen up and then select eject )

Then you insert the blank disk, save onto the blank disk then eject it and put the game disk back in.

Sounds mad but its pretty easy to do and takes a few seconds.

So you just call your 'pretend' blank disk something like playermanagersaves and then you can load it up into KO2 using the same keys as you would on an Amiga/ST but when asked to insert save game disk you go to the disk menu and select your playermanagersaves file and bobs yer uncle!

So you can load and save replays, Player manager teams, tactics etc etc etc...

I think the program is called something like 'makedisc.exe', just search for it on the internet. But it didn't work when i tried to use it, and I decided to use the amiga emulator instead to get those extra graphics I missed out on back in the day when I had an ST & most of my mates had amigas
