Newbie (but longtime KO fan) Some Questions
Hi
just seen this site and I know it has been going for a long time. I was always a massive Kick Off fan - and if anyone used to read the old Zzap C64/Amiga magazine, I was in the reader challenge against Phil King playing the original Kick Off (denied victory when the final whistle went as I was going to take my winning penalty - not like I am bitter!!)
Been back into my Amiga via WinUAE for a few years and I am active in a lot of the 64 and Amiga forums, but never really played the Kick Off games as I did not have an old skool joystick to play them on and joypads are impossible.
So I invested in an adapter and have recently been enjoying the games again - although my previous skill is now lacking - bit depressing - I was a better player at 13 than I am now.
Some questions:
1. Does not appear to be a lot of love for GOAL! Although this was always my fave - an underrated classic and the true Kick Off 3. Does anyone still play it?
2. I downloaded the Championship Version 1.17 (the stats are a great addition by the way) one thing I noticed was that the overhead kick has been disabled? Why? Any reason - also (I may be over looking this) but I cannot see an option to turn it back on either
3. Playing the computer is no relation to a human player - understand you have various tournaments and the like - does anybody get to play any other time? Anybody based in the North West for example?
Many thanks

Re: Newbie (but longtime KO fan) Some Questions
Hi Mr Phoenix and welcome!
Good idea getting an adapter, I hope you get a lot of use with it in future
There's not a lot of interest in Goal! around here. Years ago Goal used to have a separate community where Dino was involved, but I think that died out.
KO2CV is based on KO2 v1.4e which was released before overhead kicks were added. I believe they require 1mb and KO2CV limits itself to 0.5mb machines to cater for the lowest common denominator.
Guessing you mean the north west of England - whereabouts exactly? There may be someone nearby if you fancy meeting up for a KO2 night. Of course, there's always a national UK event and you are very welcome to join in.

1 meg makes sense as noticed no ref's either
Great work that has gone into it - love the bench and the crowds
Yeah - NW of England (in Bury) would be good to have a match with like-minded individuals!

Re: Newbie (but longtime KO fan) Some Questions
welcome Sir!
I'm in Derby, there's some around Nottingham, Sheffield, Birmingham, Bournemouth too...
I would certainly be up for some games some time, I bet we could organise a 'friendly' tournament with a handful of us and ease you in to the dark side
... just read that back... oooer!

Re: Newbie (but longtime KO fan) Some Questions
Was a couple of more questions:
1. Great how there is an option to stop auto slides, but what is the slide bug?
2. What is disable Dino voice?
3. When you start a game on team selection - options states autofix, PBD and trapfix - yes or no. What do these relate to?

Re: Newbie (but longtime KO fan) Some Questions
1. The slide bug - your player may slide tackle instead of trap when you are nearest the ball.
2. Dino's voice. I've added "Penalty" and "Foul" speech to the game, which was initially suspected to be from Dino himself, but there is now doubt on who's voice it really is. Anyway, it can be disabled if required.
3. APT
Autofix - prevent the players on your team who are not under your control from automatically sliding and heading the ball.
PBD - Penalty box dribble. A different dribbling mode present in player manager and also in cracked amiga disks (and elsewhere)
TrapFix - prevent the slide bug mentioned above.

Only the finest black pudding from the World Famous Market!
I'm pretty pants on KO2CV - noticed the skill levels have all been re-named - have they all been uplifted?
