Discussion: Back to basics

Postby Freshmaker » Mon Dec 07, 2015 8:47 am

There's been mentioning lately of the joy of playing a<b, no bug-fixes, just stick to pbd-choice. What say thee?

1 ATP-menu is cool. Let's stick with it.

2 ATP-menu is just the beginning. All bugs must die!

3 Back 2 basics #1. A is stronger than B, all bugs back in the game, Pbd-choice. ATP is out.

4 Back 2 basics #2. A it's stronger than B, stealing of subs is fixed, throw-in to wrong team is fixed, red carded player comes back in second half is fixed. ATP is out.

5 Back 2 basics #3. A=B, stealing of subs is fixed, throw-in to wrong team is fixed, red carded player comes back in second half is fixed. ATP is out.

I'd have to say I'm easily voting for no 4, but would gladly accept 3.

3 would be fun for a few games until the novelty wore off, but 1 is where I'd settle.

2 or 3, all or nothing stance for me still (prefer all though but not keeping bugs in just because they suit a certain style of play)

I like A>B but only coz it was fun.

The point of A=B was to make competitions simpler, even tho some people still don't believe A=B :)
Its more like A=(B/1.05)

but yes there is a place for A=B, perhaps it should be everywhere, but it still belongs in the KOA as it has made tournaments a lot easier to host (not as many games needed etc).

I still think that where we are able we can have A>B

The problem we have, in the old days A>B would have been used at UKC and World Cup and Italian and Greek Champs etc.

But now we don't have the numbers to validate a 2 day competition (I speak for UKC only here) so it was easier (and means you boost numbers) by making it 1 day and thus in most cases A=B means we can still have 10 players in a one day event.

It was never really invented to even out the game as such, it was to facilitate more enjoyment in our competitions :)
No longer the only UK based Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Crewe supporter in the whole of the KOA!!!

What do you guys reckon to my proposal that we bring back A>B and work out who plays who based on the seedings? Evening it out so everyone plays the same amount of games with Team A as they do Team B?

Wouldn't that be like handicap-matches? I'm not in favour, I'm afraid...
