It is wonderful that we have kick off friends in Amsterdam willing to host the 2016 WC, and we can only thank them for that. However, I do not think (this is strictly a personal opinion, of course) they have a big chance in front of the Birmingham bid.

Although Amsterdam is a top destination, beautiful and easy to access, the proven experience in these gatherings that our Birmingham friends have, should be a deciding factor. Anyway, it would be great if you could do something to bring back to life the legendary Dutch players community, that have been sleeping for so long. Perhaps you could focus in 2016 in organising local / national tournaments, come to the 2016 WC, and then you will have much bigger credentials to offer a 2017 WC bid.

Yeh, the Birmigham bid looks pretty tight I gotta say!

Maybe doing a local tourney in Amsterdam as a proof-of-concept is indeed the best choice.

Is there a calendar somewhere which lists the various UK/WC championships so I can start thinking about dates?

Rodolfo. I talked with Alan in Dublin, and I absolutely got the impression he can host a quality World Cup in Amsterdam.

And at the same time, the Bham bid looks stunning.

I'd call this a win win.

Alan, your idea about local tournaments in Holland as a warm up to a world cup in 2017 is a cracking idea in my eyes, maybe you could try to host a Dutch Championship? If this were the case then I’d even try and get myself, Gaz and Si to attend! Could be a nice little weekender that! ;)

I am the one that pressed for a deadline (Dec 15th) and that we invite everyone to bid.

What we have at the moment is :
a bid from an old timer with experience hosting a World Cup. BHAM
a potential bid from new blood. AMS

I welcome all bids and would urge Amsterdam to submit a formal bid.

btw: The 2015 world cup was hosted by two people with zero experience.

Good to hear about two early bids! Both bids sounds interesting. Surely Garry, Steve and Sid would do a great work with their experience and everything (amigas, monitors etc) in place. I have never visited Netherlands and I would love going there. The aspect of holding the WC in a country that not hosted it for ages must be a strong factor that should not be ignored. If you up for this Alan, then present your bid :)

With the welcome return of the enthusiastic Birmingham boys ready and eager to make a start on a year of KO2 events culminating in an epic world cup, any alternative bid will find the bar has been set high with regards to tournament organising experience. I agree with Rodolfo that reviving the dutch scene would probably be a good first step for Amsterdam.

what the others said... holland would be an awesome destination if the ball can get rolling there, but the brum bid just looks beyond epic for next year! (and no flying, wooohooo)
