The Germans definitely should host one in Mallorca.

I'm sure we can do a Galway one in the meantime. Danny is now used to driving 3h every weekend to deliver hardware, so that should be no problem to him! ;)

I've attended Rome, Athens and naturally attended the 2011 one in Birmingham...mark my words, after 2016 (if it's in Bham) I will make sure I travel to the next one and beyond.

Is this the right thread to mention WC bids or not? This forum seems a bit fractured in its discussions sometimes ...

Anyways, I was under the impression that the Birmigham bid was so strong and so organised that it was basically a no-brainer/done-deal. But if that is *not* the case, then please allow me to re-iterate an offer of a bid from Amsterdam.

I've a good friend here who organises Evesterdam (a convention for Eve Online, a space-based MMPORG game) each year for about 200 people and she would love to be involved in organising a KO2 bid. I myself have organised a boat-trip to Ireland for Amsterdam natives every other year for the past 12 years for about 40-50 people, so I can hold my own in the organisational stakes also.

Apart from that of course, Amsterdam has a super-connected airport and is a generally beautiful city.

If people want to hear more, let me know! When will the decision be made?

Hi, your bid would be more than welcome! I see the point in to organize an event for Eve (I know that game, I know what you are meaning).
Anyway Just consider in your bid the ability to gather good amiga stations. as you saw in Dublin and in past world cups, the most we go ahead in the year and the most is difficult to find amiga perfectly working with sound, gameports, and CRT 14 tv working properly. I'm sure you and your friend have experience to manage a big event. but the retro events have some retro aspect that make the difference.
Thanks! :)

Alan; as I said back in Dublin; I would LOVE an Amsterdam World Cup.
And I absolutely think you can pull this off.

Amsterdam would be a new city for the ko2worldcup, and maybe we could see the return to action of some of the old Dutch players!

Great to see another bid coming in especially from new blood. http://evesterdam.com/ looks very well organized.
The closing date for bids Alan is Dec 15th so what you need to do is assemble your bid and convince the audience that it will be a success.

some considerations:
Amigas :Where will you get them? You can get some via attendees (we got 4).
Tvs: where can you source these (I got all the 2015 ones in Cork dump).
where is the venue.
etc...

I’d love an Amsterdam World Cup too! Ideally in 2017 hehe.

Totally respect you if you want to do it in 2016 of course but we’ve already done a registration website for next year, have loads of Amiga, TV’s and joysticks in my loft. It's all ready :)
Also in our heads, we ideally would have liked to have completion by 1st Dec :/ As December is a busy month due to xmas etc.

Part of the magic for me really is doing both the UK Champs and the World Cup, part of the passion would be dwindled if it was only one. Why? Well we've already been down this road and organised these events, but doing two of the major events in one year? now there's a challenge!
BUT, it’s better to have people wanting to do this than none at all. I remember Rodolfo saying how the world cups could be coming to an end, but now that’s the total opposite – which is nice :)

albyrne5, Please don’t let this put you off and if you have a passion to do 2016 then that’s perfectly fine and if chosen I’ll be one of the first to confirm. Normally these things are left relatively till the last minute (April ish) so it looks like we have two bids prepared to plan it well in advance – which is absolutely brilliant

But we also have a passion to do it next year and so I’m just trying to illustrate that maybe it can help ease some of the pressure in getting things sorted.
