Pbd vs NoPbd

Postby Freshmaker » Tue Nov 24, 2015 11:16 am

Very interesting.

I've always been very hard-core in my love for playing with Pbd, but I've recently tried a couple matches NoPbd, and the resluts are interesting. I've always meant that I'd prefer pbd to give myself better maneuverability in the box, and at the same time been willingly accepting to not being able to trap much in attacking play. With Pbd off, however, it seems the heightened ability to trap, and from there to play a more passing-oriented attacking-style when inside the box, improves my attacking and hence scoring.
But not only that, the players seem to shoot better and the aftertouch is also improved.

I might be a convertite...

Explain this pdb madness to be. This is a bug that enables a player within the penalty box to dribble and keep possession of the ball which wouldn't normally be possible, right ?

Dagh's video from a few years ago shows the differences clearly.

Interestingly, he also mentions the different in aftertouch.

Thanks for clarification-video.

I guess the differences in aftertouch, and what seems like harder, more in control shots, will be because of you (or your player) is more in the control of the ball as originally intended, while if you play pbd you won't have the correct distance between your player and the ball in the moment of shooting...

As a natural NOPBDer, I've been using PBD for a few years now. Initially it was just for the fun of playing with a new gimmick and doing mazey runs around the penalty box, but I've found it suits my style of play - barber receiving a long ball in the box and side stepping the keeper with a 90 degree turn.
It never feels natural however and at least once per game I will run into the box all ready to trap it, and then just lamely boot it straight out for a goal kick cursing PBD for the filth that it truly is ;)

This is one of the reasons I've been sticking to pbd...

Yesterday, when playing Lee, I had a couple amazing trap-pass-trap-pass-etc-sequences, some of them ending with magnificent goals, and I've never even been close to it with Pbd on.
