Indeed Danny, 2004 was my first World Cup, so I think my memory should cover it. It's also the first, and so far, last time I met you.

Good work Mr Camber, taping and now posting all these final games so quickly! I can understand these two matches, and especially the second leg, between Dagh and Fabio must have been something special to follow at place. A true goalfest, extratime and loads of penalities.

The tension John. You can't fathom the tension in the gameroom during those semifinals. ;-)

Wow, I watched now the Dagh-Fabio's first leg.
I think Fabio and Dagh had a dazzling performance there.
Both were very nervous and made many mistakes but they scored nice and difficult goals to perform. In the first half Dagh's attack worked very well and it seemed he was going to double digit Fabio again. Fabio played badly in defense committing also 5 fouls. Dagh got a 6-2 lead.
But the amazing Fabio's come back was waiting: in the second half Fabio had a stellar defense showing his reflex skills. he stopped Dagh almost all the times committing 0 fouls and at that point Dagh was so nervous that even when he had the windows open to score, he wasted the opportunities. and Fabio wasted at least 3 opportunities too!
You could think Fabio is just about Kick Off Lob. well, at least in this match he scored just 2 of them.

Watched again the 3/4 Final, it was a very nice match!
Considering that the final score was very close, I think that the key of Alkis' victory was his defense in clinch situations: in fact he saved 3 clear goals with the ball that was going in the net and Fisher was out of question.
Dagh scored a couple of very nice goals. Also Alkis performed a couple of great on the fly maneuvers. nice match indeed.

Agreed great match.

I at one point Alkis's defence was pretty much as solid as a WhElks shell...amazing.

Jorn I can see why you got moosebumps. I missed a lot of the first half in CPH as I hadn't expected it to start but certainly nice to see Alkis is still amazing under pressure!

To be said that Dagh gave to Alkis his annual double digit ticket on day two group D! :)
Or another way to look at this could be that a strong defender like Alkis, took some measure in that group D match and his defense and counter attack worked better in the 3/4 final. If defense didn't work so well, another double digit was behind the corner.
To be said that also the kick off routine challenge went to Alkis who scored 2 Fregugla's kick off routines while Dagh has been stopped very well at the kick off routine opening.

I'm still waiting for a quiet evening to watch these games over a beer or two. Guess I'm not the only one who was seriously surprised because of the results. My favourite recorded games so far are still the 2009 finals between Spyros and Gianni. Spyros SWMT(tm) ('scoring without moving technique') deeply impressed me and finally wanted me to learn more about the game :)

I think the Voitsberg Final was epic also because of the background challenge between me and Spyros, besides the final score gap was narrow, just +2 goals in 20 minutes match.
But the second Voitsber Final between Alkis and Andy was even more tense and epic. also between Alkis and ANdy there was a back ground. Andy wanted his revenge for the Birmingham 2011 semifinal lost at the last minute. The Voitsberg 2013 final was a rollercoaster and again Alkis prevailed with a very narrow +1 gap.
Voitsberg, besides to be in my personal top 3 world cup venue, it is a place that gives always exciting matches and finals!
