Joysticks for KickOff

Postby Binary » Thu May 22, 2014 10:19 pm

Alright, so I found my A1200 is still working, I have one joystick left (Competition Pro), but I need something better to take my gaming to another level and turn ELITE (   )

Besides the Greek Sticks that are no longer manufactured, and the Slik Stiks that the Italian Gang (tm) use, what else is out there that I should keep an eye for?

A competition pro won the bronze trophy at last year's world cup. Don't discount it so easily!

As an alternative, I'd recommend an arcade stick - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Arcade_(joystick)

I got mine from dutch ebay. Very nice precise control.

I don't find the Comp Pro very precise tbh :( About same quality as the Zipstick. They're good, just not better than that.

Any advice on the joystick searches? "Arcade joystick" on ebay is extremely vague and brings everything else :D

whoa, ebay.nl has a "retro games" category :O I'm impressed, thanks! I had seen that greek stick, but it's the PC version.

Any more joystick suggestions are welcome!

I dind't know that, although if you write "atari joystick" or "amiga joystick" using your usual ebay page, you'll come up to the same ebay.nl results.

I've got a Prof Competition 9000 de luxe which is the advanced version version of arcade stick. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Arcade_(joystick)

The stick is slightly slower than the Suncom's but it is more accurate. the micro switches and the shape of the grid that allows the joystick movements is perfect for kick off: it allows you to make perfect circles, that means that in running plays you easily catch the diagonals, so when you change direction, you control better the ball.
The big limit of Suncom sticks is that you are not allowed to catch diagonal very well while you are performing running actions. that means that you can lose the ball while you change direction from (for example) up to right as you don't catch the up-right corner diagonal.
The strong side of the suncoms is their instability. the changes of state from "stop" to "go" is VERY fast. in short you can perform very fast moves, adjustments and actions, so fast that your opponent cannot prevent it. The only way it try to guess. this benefit is also related to defence actions of course.
Both the joysticks are very good, my suggestion is to use the Arcade, as it gives you more solidity. in case you prefer shivers run down your spine and you have very good reflexes, suncoms are your then.

Also have my eyes on this guy, not sure who recommended them before: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RED-ZIP-STIK- ... 461f3cfe1a

About the Red Zip stick I have no informations. Tac2 is Slik Stik's big bro.
