KO2WC, Copenhagen, 2014 - hardware

Postby Freshmaker » Wed May 07, 2014 7:51 am

Shout-out for hardware.

to get this event going, we need hardware. Personally, I've got nothing, so we need koa-members offering to bring.

Currently our hardware-situation is as follows (updated 18. september):

Jørn: 1 Amiga - 4 screens - 1 modulator
Panni: 3 Amigas - 2 screens
Jacob: 4 Amigas - 3 screens - scarts + modulators
John: 3 Amigas - 3 scarts - 1 modulator
Oliver: 1 scartcable - 1 modulator
Gianni: "some" cables and modulators ;)
Dagh: 1 Amiga - 1 modulator
Torgny: 1 A600 - modulator
Chris: 2 modulators, 1 scart

For sure the "tournament Room" was not certified with the IQSF but it was fun though!

Gianni u noob!

I have amiga hardware but travelling by plane makes this an emergency-only option. Hopefully we can source enough hardware from land based attendees.

Since the players in my local area don't show too much interest in attending or at least are not ready to make a decision right now I will most likely travel to Copenhagen by plane because I want to book my flight in time. As a former world cup organiser I would suggest you to not only rely on others to bring equipment but also provide it on your own. Besides the 3 complete systems I already owned I purchased another 4 from Sascha which made a total of 7 that I brought to the Dusseldorf world cup on my own. I sold the additional equipment after the world cup (2 of them already in the tournament room right after the competition). If there is no Sascha around you can easily buy and sell amiga gear on ebay. In my opinion this is an effort an organiser should take. If there is a financial issue I am sure there are some people around here that are ready to donate in this matter. I am fine with giving 30-50€ if it helps to gather the required equipment.

I agree with Oliver, eventually you can add Amiga costs on WC entrance fee.

Most of us have an Amiga, it only weighs a few kilos and I don't think it's too much of a burden to carry one in our suitcase. Considering that there are almost no local players in Copenhagen, we should do our part instead of asking the sole organizer to buy everything. Keep in mind that the number of participants is nowhere near guaranteed.

The biggest problem are the screens... If no Germans are driving to Copenhagen, I don't know how Jorn is going to find the 10-12 monitors/TVs we need.

I did not say that I deny supporting Jorn. Actually quite the contrary. Of course I have no issues in bringing an amiga in a suitcase but you already named the problem regarding the screens. So we (including the host) should consider every option to guarantee a sufficent amount of equipment.

Three attendees from Northern Germany!
Jörg P (100%), Peter S (100%), Wolf H (90%).
We are able to bring 3 AMIGAS and 2 monitors.
By road trip of course.

Great stuff Panni!

Monitors I think I can handle locally, in a way. The amigas is another matter.
