Here is the review of the saturday's retrogame event.
Papozze is a small town in the North Est of Italy, near to Venice, we spent 2 hours and half to reach the venue by Car.
The team you know it already, in the first row Cousin and me, in the second row, my brother and Flavio.
Flavio reached Milan the night before as for him, it was a very long trip (very far North West to very far North Est), so he split the trip and the costs too.
the Venue was a stand used for sports and cultural events. a nice new 3 years old building with much wood for the roof.
RetroAcademy, the retro game and computer event gathered many collectors that have much stuff to show and to sell.
In fact it was possible to see a load of retro stuff, in many case very rare pieces of hardware and software masterpiece, just for those who were able to recognize it!
MAME had a special corner with a couple of Cabinets arcade style.
There was also some room for retro robots Art!
Although our love for retro stuff, we were there also to play kick off! it was GAMETIME!
Koney K wasn't sure to be there although he lives in the neighbourhood due to job issues but we were delighted to see him and, above all, his amazing ultra professional Commodore Drive Joystick!!!!
Of course also Fabrizio, the organizer of the RetroAcademy was attending the tournament. it was said that, perhaps some newbie could join the tournament, and in fact that was: even three young 21 years old boys joined their first tournament. they just know about the legend of the hardest and best soccer game ever, they wonted to join the legend.
Much people went among the soccer goals to see what we were doing. on the other side ladies were playing Mortal Kombat (ladies with mortal kombat???? WTF????) and kids were playing Super Mario Bros
The tournament didn't offer many surprises.
Remarkable notes:
Among the newbies Davide scored the first goal winning a pin to remark it! a pity that it was the only one he scored!
Sandro and Alessandro played an amazing, tense and fun match. Sandro caught a very nasty penalty kick, in the end of the match Sandro was leading by one and Alessandro had also a red card on his back, but cousin was able to rob the draw thanks to a last second lob! a gaol that gave Alessandro the second place in the tournament! Sandro was punished with his same weapon!
Koney was drawing 1-1 with me (he marked this many times in front of his arch rival Fabrizio).
Flavio scored much! I see him in a very good form!
Alessandro played well, in particular he had a very good performance with me scoring 7!
Sandro in cleaning the dust on his joystick, he'll be ready for the World Cup, hoping we will have one this year!
Our newbie friends were hammered but whey wanted it! they wanted to see how strong play players that enjoy the game since 1990 when they weren't even born. and it was even said that a world champion (sorry, a THREE times world champion!) was attending the tournament. we couldn't disappoint their expectations!
Well, the good news is that they liked very much the game and, as they live near Fabrizio, who have much hardware and room, it is possible that something might start there.
After the tournament there was some room to play arcades. Alessandro showed his skills with R-TYPE and Sandro demolished another one arcade playng Hyper Olympic (Track'n'Field)
It was a great Saturday, we had great fun, sure we will attend RetroAcademy 2.0!!
