Ok so here we are,

There is a festival setup and you are allowed to pick the setlist for 10 - 16 (usual festival 90 minutes slot) songs to be played Live, by any artist(s) alive or dead and you can mix up as much as you like (so you can have Queen Opening with something, followed by the Beatles, followed by Crowded house or Nirvana whatever you liked...or just have 14 songs from Status quo if thats your thing!)

What would your perfect setlist be, taking into account the perfect opening track and the best encore set closing with the best live tune of all time for you personally -

Have to say tho, having seen a zillion gigs, there is still no better opening track than Release that they played in Manchester this year....

Need to find a great version to do it justice, but WHAT a way to open.......and then as always they go straight into some really really fast rocky stuff to light up the stadium which is why I throw Crackerman in at that point too :)

In fact I think I should explain my setlist, a lot of thought in it so you can all appreciate a little more...

As discussed, perfect opening, soft melodic song that gets quite orchestral at the end....dark lighting, single spotlight gradually brought up on Eddie vedder, Crowd swaying and singing along...giveing people time to get back from the bar without being bounced all over the stadium......

Then lights up full, and Scott Weiland bursts into a full on, microphone and loud speaker thingy Crackerman...crowd goes wild!

Keep the mood upbeat with the singalong Everlong and Dave Grohl getting the crowd to get really into the gig......

then drop it down a notch with the gorgeous Tori Amos with that iconic piano song........wow

Keeping it low key with the Beatles and hide your love away....another Crowd singalong to bounce the mood sky high!

Bring on Radiohead....slowly slowly melodic background music and then BRING IT UP...Blast those guitars woooooo

Maybe put Counting crows ahead of the Bends come to think of it, keeps things in line with a little big of an accoustic break.

then the Stones...OMG greatest band ever for sure Sympathy for the devil, lights are up, Jagger in his element!!! awesome....

Deacon blue take it down a notch, a bit of Ricky Ross Crooning to get the crowd ready for the 'english weather' element of the show, then the greatest guitarist of all time until he was killed by Eric Clapton comes to the stage for his first part......and everyeone gets a chance to kick back and see some AMAZING guitar skillz by SRV!

Pearl Jam back to the front...and Evenflow, possibly the greatest song ever live, with another epic and amazing Mike Mcready solo to leave the crowd breathless and wanting more as the lights go down and the bands leave for the back of the stadium and a well deserved drinks break......

Lights stay low...Deus to the stage and a beautifully moving piano version of Hotel Lounge....

Then the late great Andy Wood, ulitimate showman takes over the piano and plays us Chloe dancer before the rest of Mother Love Bone kick in to the magnificantly epic Crown of Thorns......

Pearl Jam back to the stage...erm...or rather stay on the stage as they are basically MLB....and ALIVE lifts the roof....Stone Gossards Les Paul bursting thru in Tube screaming goodness.....OMFG!

Feeder with an absolutely incredibly hi octane version of Shatter, incredible...I could die now and be happy for ever.....

Then Finally Mike Mcready plays us out with Yellow Ledbetter...half way thru spotlights hit Stevie Ray as he plays little wing before his guitar bursts into flames and from the ashes we see Jimi Hendrix step forward, custom upside down Fender Strat strung low and back to front and Little Wing echoes around the stadium.....before he turns it back into Yellow Ledbetter....Mike McCready making his guitar weep and the crowd are in tears swaying as the lights go down........the end!

lol, if you'r going to go in-depth on your choices then im going to do the same 8)

Even though Andrew WK is often lamented and with a few weird sites suggesting he's an illuminati member or something  you cant deny that his songs are just so much fun. Decided to go BANG! into the opening with everyone moshing around like crazy no matter the weather.
After all that moshing the audience will need a breather but I didnt want the gig to come to a grinding halt, I also wanted to include one song from the bands i like and so it was The Doors - Touch Me and as this comes to a spirited end you have Dave Grohl belting out some goading words before going full pelt into a rock classic.
Added Hundred Reasons because this was the first song played at the first gig we ever went to back in 2001 era. It was also the day Birmingham City got promoted to the Premier League for the first time. We'd been toying with the idea of going to a gig for a while and really got into the whole nu-metal/emo scene (although not the fashion emo you have now, but instead songs where the singer shouts down the mic hehe). Anyway, it culminated in this one. Small venue, loud music and people moshing from the beginning. Perfect.

Then added Wizzard because when we had Phoebe I started listening to the old classics on the radio and having serious bouts of nostalgia for the past. Wanting Phoebe to really remember her childhood and hoping we made it great for her and this song, mainly cause it had Baby in the title was somethign I sang to her far too often!
So with the setlist gradually winding down I figured this would be the best place to put a slow one and ever since I watched a film starring Sean Penn who plays an handicapped guy - who also digs the Beatles - I'v loved this song and play it on guitar now when i get the chance.

So the Encore then. This is full, unabashed onslaught about my favourite music. Music from the 2001 era. A time when I moved back into my parents house with a mantra to enjoy life to the max, to embrace music and pop culture and not be in my shell as it were. In reality it only lasted for 2 or 3 years before I brought an house
So 'Downer - This is the last time' is a track off one of the Kerrang CD's I used to purchase/collect religiously. Blink182, love the sound of this song and it fitted the bill of having 1 track from my favourite bands at various stages of my life. Then Buck Rogers by Feeder because it's such a happy uplifting song and reminds me of watching Kerrang music channel on the telly. When it seemed like music TV would forever be the domain of the top 40 and here came things like Kerrang that catered for the things I was into
Finally, Muse. Been a fan since they released Plug in Baby as a single (before the release of Origin of Symmetry). Back in the day I wanted to latch onto a band...have a favourite one as it were and loved Foo Fighters, Hundred Reasons and after listening to Plug in Baby...Muse.
Showbiz was their first album and was a good start. It was something different from the norm and won an NME award to boot but it would be thei next release, Origin of Symmetry - an album they wrote whilst on the road - so it had a raw feel to it but it really played to their strengths at the time, which was cracking Piano music and great guitar solo's. Infact my favourite of all their songs is probably Citizen Erased which combines all these. Since then they'v slowly evolved so Absolution was a more polished, more clearer (from an artistic lyrical wise) vision and it's on this album that they released Stockholm Syndrome. For me this is simply too good, it's got everything you'd want from a Muse song and when it was released it was simply too good to be true and the album was a belter.
So I figured I'd end this setlist with the ending of their Glastonbury setlist. A time when everything came together for them.
