Friday's KOBRAs might have been the starter, but saturday was always going to be the main course we were looking forward to! 8)

If you want to inject a barrel load of fun into your KO2, have yourself a drinking tourney! Our inspiration for this was Volker's ground-breaking Longfield X. Probably best to limit these events to special occasions mind but definately recommended!!

Ste, Si and I had talked about this for weeks and came up with a set of drinking rules. The idea behind them was to try to keep things as tight as possible. If a player went ahead by three goals, they had to then play with Blitz until the deficit was reduced to one. If a player lead by 3 goals at HT or FT, they would face a drinking forfeit! In the event of a drawn game, EVERYONE had to take another drink!!! Having Screech as Ref increased the likelihood of red cards and penalties which also meant an instant forfeit!!! We played with just one amiga station and the two 'watchers' tossed a coin to choose which player they'd support. If 'your' player lost you also had to face a forfeit!! Basically win, lose or draw, you pretty much faced another drink!

Everyone was engaged with the action and regular KO2 incidents suddenly had extra significance. A combination of the rules and the alcohol heightened the atmosphere dramatically! One second you'd be cheering your player on, the next jeering the opposition when he had to face a drinking forfeit! Usually we'd take any goal we could but suddenly a scummy goal (through the post, didn't cross the line or Fisher fumble) wasn't so desirable! :lolo:

In hosting this tourney, Steve had done a magnificent job in shopping for the booze and crisps, nuts and snacks. We had all contributed of course but it was Steve that was actually making this happen, and putting us up for the night too. Thanks a million for all of this mate. I'll never forget this one, even if I can't remember all of the details (if you know what I mean)!!! It felt like we were in a KOA Pub, with both KO2 and alcohol on tap in equal measure!!!!

Thinking about it, before the tournament itself we started off with a free-kick challenge. Using KO2CV we set up a position for a freekick which we all then used for a best-of-five competition. Volker managed an amazing 3 out of 5, both Si and Ste 1. It was my turn and it wasn't going well having missed my first four and I seemed to be shooting further and further away from the goal! Nevertheless my final free-kick somehow smashed the back of the net :) TAKE DOWN! :lolo: Everyone except Volker had to face the first forfeit. The only three glasses we could find were slightly oversized but we took the vodka plunge anyway, even if they were at least trebles! Foul as it tasted, it got this tourney started alright, and warmed us up from the inside out!

We agreed a x2 tourney (don't think we'd have lasted anymore), but I can't remember any of the matches tbh, only fragments of them. I can recall playing Steve and one moment that would have made Waynie proud. The night had a feeling of fun and anything goes, and that's my excuse for doing what I did. Maybe the Vodka, Baileys and Lager had something to do with it too. Anyway, Steve slide in my box and without even thinking I 'dived' my player over him. Not only did I get a penalty (which I converted; if I'd have missed I'd have had a forfeit) but Steve received a red card too! SORRY MATE BUT DOUBLE DRINKIES FOR STEVE!!! I don't think this happened again all tourney although others made several attempts. As the evening wore on and my judgement became less true, I suffered my own share of accidental fouls, penalties and red cards too.

I also remember my first goal against Si that night and a 45' diagonal from the top left which went straight through the post! Nooooo! Somebody fill it and give me my glass.....

Big credit must go to Volker for entering into the spirit of things so enthusiastically, even though he'd felt unwell during the day. It made me laugh when on the following morning, Volker said he'd felt the best he had all weekend!!!!

Think we started around 8pm but didn't conclude until 2am. Not sure where the time went but it flew! I remember going in the kitchen at one point and being completely incapable of finding the fridge. Thanks Donna for helping me out. :) Thanks too for taking some snaps during the night too. These proved invaluable because perhaps predictably for a tourney of this kind we lost the results!!!! Actually we didn't lose them, we just assumed the fixtures program was saving them automatically, but it was an earlier version of the software that didn't. Thankfully though, one of the snaps was of the league/results so we were able to work it all out the next day. Phew!

To try to disrupt repetitive finishing, the three-goals-of-the-same-type forfeit became a lively discussion at times! Were two goals of the same type or not, that was the question! Si, sometimes forgetting things for a moment, would go on a goal spree, face a HT forfeit and then have to play with blitz for the remainder of the game, but somehow he made it work??? Si deservedly proved to be the night's champion in more ways than one. Not only did he top the KOOHL league but he incurred the most drinking penalties also. Now that's what I call doing the DOUBLE! :eeko: :no1:

Me and Si continued playing until 3am still trying to get one over the other but then we had to call it a night. When I managed to find my mattress, I couldn't locate a pillow. It was until the next day I realised the soft thing I'd grabbed was in fact the cat bed!!!! :yikes:  Anyway, this'll definately be one of those tourneys we'll be talking about for quite a while, if only to help each other remember what happened!!!! Cheers again fellas and especially Steve and Donna for a top night. :)

Among my faves are the two team photos. Si's reflective 3D glasses in the first or is it a twinkle in his eye, knowing glory lay ahead of him that night??? Don't know if it was down to the glasses but there was certainly a 3D effect going on by the end of the night, with the moving walls and spinning rooms!! And Volker's flip-top-head drinking technique in the second. Each time we all had a forfeit, Volker won the drinking race by a mile! :eeko: 8)

I also like the coin tossing one too, even if I don't look too happy with the outcome. :lolo: Think this idea of having spectators engaged in the action really worked well! 8) And what's going on in the 'unable to focus' pic??? On second thoughts, I think I'd rather not know!  Finally I really like your 'thumbs up' picture which kinda says we don't quite know what's going on, but we're having fun anyway..... a great night and some great memories!

Already three weeks ago, this fantastic weekend, and i´m still not know if my name is Volker or Wolka

First, the presentation of the standing looks great, Steve! 8)

It had been a great Saturday, but life can be so unfair :(
Garry and me are two big rollercoaster fans and we was keen to visit with Jo(Garrys youngest son) a themepark near Birmingham :D
As i awake in the morning, i thought first it is my childish anticipation that let me wake up so early, but it wasn´t. Damn, it ends in diarrhea and vomiting  I cancel the trip! Hard decision that makes me feel double sick :( :( Big respect to Jo, who was also not amused about a weekend without Drayton Manor, but remembering back when i was 14(already themeparks was my material goods number 1 and so very near to forget the values of family) there had been some things flying through the air maybe, before i terrorize my parents to let enough loo paper at home for the guest and drive me to this f+++ing themepark  )
Sorry, could be the wrong forum to post my ranked wish list for that weekend:
1. visiting the KO2 people of birmingham
2. Drayton Manor
3. drinking
4. kick off
But it´s true, for a visit at Drayton Manor i had give up KO2 on that weekend.
I feel like shit and was near to stay in bed, grab the stuffed animal Ellie has gave me and started to cry.( In this moment i see me alraedy out for the drinking tourney at Steves home)

Our unluck not to go to the themepark was Hannah´s luck to get an early birthday present :)
We drive to a store near a toilett. In the store she found an i-pod nano. Good choice of the green colour( i only miss the "W" for my favourite football club on it  ). Not being a great tecnique fan i saw first time an i-pod nano and wonder about how small it is. My theory is that the company makes it soo small that it is easier to lose or forget somewhere(Still a walkman fan, i know by the weight of my pockets if all things are there).
A month to early:"Happy birthday Hannah, may the best music be with you always"

Back at home i go to bed and sleep for some hours. I wake up and be happy that my stomach feels better.Garry did a great organizer job and so we can have a short walk along a canal in the center of Birmingham. Very nice!
Not nice after my stomach feels better, i feel slack now and my head and back aches, so we must do some rests.
I´m happy to go to bed again and we started the way back. But it looks like i attract the unluck this saturday and of course there is a power cut at the railway station.

We arrived at Garrys home later and Simon is already waiting!
Now it´s time for a really hard decision. My full body shouts for a bed and my worse english turns into non communication, i´m sooo close to say "good night".
But what the fcuk, Si is waiting, Steve bought the booze and i´m sure the boys were as keen as me to play this drinking tourney. A whole month my mind circled around this happening, that was 30 days of anticipated joy, and only give it up for one bad day. No it´s my part to try my best now, after the brummies already done. So if i "die" it should be through booze or joy and not of feeling ill

Thanx to our driver! Simon takes us to Steves place.
Steve bought everything you can wish for a drinking tourney :)
Was about 16 years ago i drunk BAileys last time, but really great this new one with a smooth taste of coffee. Good buy Steve! And good it was a 1 litre bottle and not only 0,7l :D
Also perfect beer, Heineken makes no headaches for the next day.
Only the vodka, how can i descript it pollite? I know now, why James Bond not drinks english vodka in the movies
One the other hand this pain(t)killer should be tradition in birmingham now for every international guest :)
I miss the picture of Steve after he drinks the imperial :P

Garry already done a great tournament review, so there is nothing i can complete, only remembering the pun "joydick"

The time runs very fast and it is 2 am going to bed :eeko:
It´s time to clear up the riddle why the cat was the poorest that night
Falling down at my sleep place i was delight to find two small and one big pillow at the ground. You can guess how many i used :sor:
Like the princess on the bean i fall into sleep with a smile in my face, hope my bowels will not revolt again the next morning. Because of the cat the bath room door should be open, so we would all die

to be continued...

   Your very open review had me in stitches! I'd forgotten about the pronunciation lessons. I was hopeless! "Vullkierrre" was robably my best attempt, sounding more french than german! And unbelievable that Birmingham New St Station should have a power cut like that! In darkness, no clocks nor displays working, I was worried we might miss Steve's tourney altogether. All's well that ends well, and thankfully the alchoholic medicine seemed to cure you too! 8)

PS One liners in the rankings thread won't do - you gotta write the third and final chapter now! :)

Of course, people like Simon, Wendy and Donna are still not in the review. And ahhh, lost in memories remembering the pub :)
But sorry not this week, must organize the drinking tourney first and i´m late with that!
