Hi guys, I'm a KO GATHERING newbie and wondered if you all had special names for different types of goals?

Me and my group of mates at school had a hatfull, which some of us still use today... here are a few for starters....

KEV COWARD - a dirty shot from the halfway line.
DISCIPLINED COWARD - same shot but nearer the goal and therefore trickier, and not as dirty.
ANTI-RADIATION (pronounced 'ant-i') - a curled shot from the byline which looks like an impossible angle.
LEAD HEAD - headed goal out of the keepers hands. dirty.
AKIF SHIMMY - one-on-one, side-step the keepers and shot.
YASSIR (Arafat) - a simple curled shot passed the keeper.
BLADE RUNNER - a mazey run and finish.
THE GOVERNMENT FUNDED (HUSH HUSH BLACKSPOT) - a diagonal shot that creeps inside the near post, making use of the 'hush hush blackspot'.... this was apparently a pixel which was overlooked by Dino Dini when making the game. If you could hit that pixel from that angle, legend had it you would score everytime.

There are loads more which I can't be arsed to type out right now (including the unforgettable 'SWIFT AND SLY AND PLAYING IT COOL WITH MY HOMEGIRL PAULA ABDUL') but they'll wait for another day.

So what about you?

I think i'm must be an expert at the 'THE GOVERNMENT FUNDED (HUSH HUSH BLACKSPOT)' as thats the way I score 90% of my goals Can't say I ever gave goals names, but I can claim to have seen many a 'Camber Goal' in my time

What's a 'camber goal'?
I've not witnessed one of those.

I'm a good friend of PaulyMinns (see above) and also a KOA newbie. Pauly and I came up with most of those goal names (and I'm the nameseake for the Shimmy), but Pauly left out a couple of names for other aspects of the game.....

TECHNIQUE - knocking an opposition player over without having a foul called (being 'Techniqued in the area' is the ultimate insult).
DEADHEAD - a failed attempt at the LEADHEAD (see Pauly's posting above).
GOLDEN RETRIEVER - this is when one of your players gets in the way of an oppostion shot that is about to go in. When this occurs, the defending player woofs at his opponent like a dog.
THE SLAYER - sliding the ball into the goal.

You no doubt all think that we're both mad.....and you're right.

I'll have you know that the "Kev Coward" is a very silky skill.

Camber Goal - Sort of halfway between the Halfwayline and Goalline, out on the wings, a diagonal chipped shot with no curl dead straight on the Goal and over the Keepers Head.

Wonkas Golden Ticket Goal - Player (usually Rikki) runs to the goalline (and right on the goalline otherwise its useless) and chips the ball accross the face of the goal, if a striker gets his head on it its a goal no stopping it apparently apart from on the cracked version of KO2

Durban Goal - Very rare, in fact never happens a lot at all, basically a goal where Durban shoots and it goes in, any way

Screech Corner - Drilled in low and keeping it near to the post, passes all the players apart from the Midfielder waiting at the back post to prod it home, relatively new and as yet rarely seen.

Ely Goal - its official now as I have seen it several times, diagonal shot from the edge of the box (usually with a bit of Curl to guide it into the goal) passes the keeper on tight against the near post, and usually with the added curl whips into the goal and hits the far side of the net.

You've been Seckered combo - A chip from anywhere, usually followed up by another chip, then another, and another, then a quick mishit where the joystick goes one way but the ball doesn't move, then a chip.

Thats all

Ark and Paulyminns - I notice you are based in the South East. If you are still playing, you are welcome to join our next London Gathering sometime in May. Drop us an email if you are keen.

By the way, myself and J.Lockerbie had a couple of extra terms related to the above:

'THE ANGLE' GOAL - a goal hit at exactly 45 degrees into the near post
THE 'CRAP ZONE' - the two positions in the box where it is impossible to shoot on target (due to 8 direction limitation)

May I add the Run the Byline and Gun Goal. The fwd runs *on* the byline to the post and scores with a diagonal turn on spot. I challenge you to try it! Alkis was pretty amazed by that!

It sounds like a close range anti-radiation to me..... I'll try it out this evening.

Damn! over 10 years on and I'm STILL finding new ways to score.

Hey Ark, what was the 'swift and sly and playing it cool with my home girl paula abdul' anyhoo!?!?!?!

Was it when you trap the ball and spin your man through 360 degrees before continuing your run?...... y'know, just to show off.
