Actually I've never seen an Atari ST, but it's supposed to be THE ENEMY of Amiga, right? lol

I've got ko2 world cup 90 edition for ST. Don't have the others, although I've played them all over the years (thanx Jim!)
If you haven't seen the ST version before, prepare for:
1. a game that doesn't crash
2. the clock never breaks
3. the whistle sample doesn't get stuck on
4. if you put the ball in the net then you get a goal.
5. if you don't put the ball in the net then you don't get a goal.
6. players don't dribble with the ball following along 3 yards behind them
7. you can see the whole scanner clearly while running along the left wing
8. a less stupid goalie
9. slightly faster action
10. groovy overscan cheap pitch drawing method
I've had to give all this up for the last few months for the sake of the competition, but I'll dust off the ST on Sunday after an early exit from the compy !

Steve C,
Good on you for bringing an Atari ST along.
If you bring a towel and I bring a towel we can have a game of SPEEDBALL provided I am green of course.....

Well basically me and Steve C used to play Speedball loads and loads and loads.
We always played best of 10 and found that half way through the games we were both soaked through from sweating loads cause the game is so intense !!
So then we decided to keep towels with us to get the sweat off so we could carry on playing the game !!
Speedball is brilliant and I think the original was better than Speedball 2.

1. a game that doesn't crash
My Kick Off 2 never crashed either.
2. the clock never breaks
Ok..
3. the whistle sample doesn't get stuck on
Fair enough..
4. if you put the ball in the net then you get a goal.
Uh..what net?
5. if you don't put the ball in the net then you don't get a goal.
See 4.
6. players don't dribble with the ball following along 3 yards behind them
Aren't you exaggerating a bit?
7. you can see the whole scanner clearly while running along the left wing
You're right, that IS annoying in the Amiga version.
8. a less stupid goalie
I disagree.
9. slightly faster action
Much faster I should say. That's the main advantage.
10. groovy overscan cheap pitch drawing method
Huh? I'm not sure what you mean by this one.

Maybe it's possible too to bring back some old memories by running some other classic games too (if we have the time off course). Now, I probably can't bring along my A1200 itself, but I could bring along my 2 Gig HD and turbo card with about 500 classic games all running straight from HD. So, if anyone can arrange an A1200, we could plug the HD and turbocard in and watch those oldies again. Just name a game you'd like to see and I'll take care of it. Or maybe make a list of games...
We could also play every Kick Off game released on the Amiga, I have them:
Kick Off
Kick Off Extra Time
Kick Off 2
Kick Off 2 Final Whistle
Kick Off 2 Return to Europe
Kick Off 3
Kick Off 3 multi language
Kick Off 3 European Challenge
Kick Off 96
I probably forgot some more...

On the ST, the pitch extends right to the edge of the TV screen - i.e. no borders, bigger viewing area.
And it costs virtually NO CPU time to draw, just an H-blank interrupt changing the palette RGB. I take my hat off to Dino/Steve. Brilliant !

Camber,
I like the signature! Looks like I'll be requesting your services throughout the tournament if the last couple of weeks are anything to go by! Where can you get the little microswitch springs/contacts from?
Oh and less of the programming talk

Breaking sticks for 30 years...
You gotta love Overscan, I always remember spending ages getting a demo he was writing to do that. And also new demos from people like 'The Care Bears' where they has stuff scrolling in the overscan areas each one getting better and better (i.e. Top, Bottom, Left & Right). Truly impressive. Blah Blah.
How come people break there joysticks, i've only even had one in 16years !!
