Last night's nightmare

Postby alkis21 » Tue Nov 06, 2007 12:58 pm

I did not have a very pleasant evening yesterday.

I've been able to handle the pain due to the tendinitis in my right hand by applying Counterpain ointment 2-3 times per day. But I wanted to do something for my back as the ointment didn't do much there. So on Monday, I decided to put on a plaster (hopefully that's the right word) as a last resort. I was glad to notice some improvement.

Yesterday evening, I took a shower and removed the plaster. The skin underneath was irritated but not too much; so I put on a new one. That's when it went downhill. My skin stang and burned like hell. My wife was urging me to remove it but I was reluctant, partly because I was hoping it would pass and partly because I knew it would hurt a lot. A couple of hours later, while Roula was in the shower, I decided I couldn't take it anymore and I was going to ask her to remove it when she'd get out. I was a little bit too late because, well, I fainted from the pain. She got out of the shower and found me out cold, fortunately I had fell on the bed. She helped me to the bathtub where it took us forever to remove it after soaking it with shower gel. I was screaming the whole time. Furthermore, as I couldn't tolerate hot water on the wound I was on the verge of hypothermia by the time Roula finally removed the damn thing. I was shaking all over, my teeth were rattling and it took me a good hour and several cups of hot tea to return to my normal temperature.

Now the good news. :) Probably because of the shock, my back feels much better today, so maybe it was worth it!

I know... The last time I had fainted in my life was 16 whole years ago, in boxing.

Right. I know I sometimes tend to overdramatize my posts, but this is not one of these cases. I fail to see how losing your consciousness due to pain can be amusing.

Technically, that's called a knockout...

WTF was in that plaster?! are you sure it was the pain from the plaster and not an overdose(I'm sure you checked the active ingredients list...)

Anyway, not nice, but like you say it did the trick... maybe try a massage next time, though...
