Regular online action - Friday Nights (plus..?)

Postby Noodlebug » Sat Jun 16, 2007 3:26 pm

I've just broken my online cherry with a very enjoyable 6-hour session.

I imagine I will be in the chatroom every Friday night from around 10pm BST (2100 GMT) if anyone wants a game then (trying to bring back the Friday Nighters of my youth!).

Is anyone else prepared to name times when they are very likely to be online and looking for action? Perhaps we can narrow this down to a few optimal times when people can aim to log on in expectation rather than in hope that there will be a few people up for a tourney!

Excellent idea :p As online gaming makes absolutely no difference in the gameplay compared to the real kick off on amiga/uae with a mate.

We just wait for you in the chatroom on irc. We'll be pleased to meet more players, and make online tournaments if possible. I'm personnally likely to be there every day in the afternoon and evening.

See you there :)

Hi !

Thanks for the welcome :)

I'm a french kick off fan ( I alternatively love super cars2 , but that's another subject). I found this forum when i randomely typed kickoff2.com in my browser, to find out that this game is still alive !

So I came here to join the community, dreaming about world cups ^^ and waiting for a good opportunity to make my first post. For now, I camp 24/7 in #kickoff on quakenet, checking for online opponents. It looks like I need some training against humans :)

Hi Rayge, and welcome!

Online ko2 is good fun, but it's rarely the same as 2 humans at one amiga. I'll try to join in the fun though :)

Bonjour Rayge! :)

We could do with a few more players from Francais, judging by the Active KOA Players List.

New players are always welcome round here. 8) And hopefully catch you for an online game soon...

Hi Rayge and welcome.

I won't be joining in the online action though as I found it too different to regualr play. It was still fun but I think if I do it too much it will be counter productive.

Yeah what BB said!

It`s too frustrating for me anyway..

You know what you wanna do.. but it just doens`t work right.. the lag - which can be ever so slight.. ruins it for me!

Also when I fight tooth and nail to pull a goal back and BBob Kick Off Lobbs me.. then it`s goodnight Vienna I`m afriad

I have a few points to make in defence of online KO2:

1) It's really not that bad! Sure you get occasional lag/desynch but it's the same for both players. I've not noticed any limitations on what I can do with the game, during the long stretches where there is no lag.

2) When you're the only known KO2 player north of Sheffield, online KO2 is the only practical way to play human opposition. Assuming you can find human opposition who aren't terrified of anything slightly out of their comfort zone!

3) It's quick and easy to arrange a game whenever you feel like playing, which I do almost all the time. Even if I had human opponents living nearby, I wouldn't have to leave the house to have a decent competitive game. I'm not from the school of thought that goes "I'll play perfect KO2 just the way I like it, or I won't play at all" - I'll play anyone, any time, any settings. If I had enough cash I would add "anywhere" too!
