I was absolutely delighted to find that I could play my favourite game of all time again on my pc. I'd hate to think how many days of my life I've spent playing KO2, and it really annoys me how people can think that FIFA is a better game. I mean where's the fun in pressing shoot once, and watching the ball fly into the top corner? I like to feel like I've actually had something to do with it.
Anyway, I'd like to start two similar topics here both based on player names.
Firstly, I know some people have managed to create disk images with real players and real teams on them for the Amiga, for use in KO2, but I've never found them...can anyone help ?
Secondly, and on a bit of a lighter note. Over the years playing KO2 you get to know the players in the game and give them all nicknames...here's my selection...please feel free to add your pet names for these players.
Andy Nicholls - Best striker in the game. (A.Nicholls)
Big Fat Willy Quinn - Good finisher but with no pace. (W.Quinn)
Run Shaw - Due to his fantastic pace. (R.Shaw)
Dead Man Barker - Always getting injured (D.E.Barker)
Burt Reynolds - The hardest defender ever, I've only seen him get injured once. (B.Reynolds)
C**t Carter - He's rubbish ! (C.Carter)

Alex, I am glad you share my passion for naming players! I am sometimes based in Nottingham, we should meet up for a game and to exchange notes.
Since I use the International team I get to use:
Sado-Masochist FISHER
Ronny COX (i.e. the film actor)
Aimless LINDSAY (can't kick straight)
Strategic Defence Review WELLS
Mighty Mouse BARRETT (he's puny)
Run Away SCOTT
Along time ago I used to use Spain with
Fungus The Bogeyman SINCLAIR
But then I realised you can have a lot more fun making Player Manager sides. In my time I've had some great player names:
L 'Lionel' RITCHIE
ET 'Extra Time' LANGLEY
J 'Jedi' KNIGHT
I am still looking for a player with the best possible name, which is of course O.J.SIMPSON - this is an achievable name!

Oh and I forgot my favourite super-sub
Mission Impossible BARKER (M.I.Barker)
When we used England, we always had
'Rick SHAW' (one of those fast Chinese bike taxis)
'Widow' QUINN (a character from The Playboy of the Western World)
We also had Burt REYNOLDS - an obvious one really.
I also seem to remember Scotland having a
Machine Gun GRAY

I always thought the official name for B.Reynolds was Butch.
But I also have a Ricky Shaw, Dean Emerson Barker, Andy Nicholls, Will Quinn etc etc.
It was better in PM coz your players were more your own so you felt securer in naming them if you see what I mean.
You had to know the first names of all your players in Pm, especially when playing a ko2 game with them against your mates team, coz the commentary just wouldn't be the same...

I always called B.Reynolds Butch as well. He is quite quick and the real Butch Reynolds held the world 400m record until a couple of years ago.
Also many people must have found players with the same name as someone they knew. For instance i know a D.Wood and an M.Gray. Theres quite a few more but i cant remember them.

I never realise the different skill levels had different players?
I just thought the overall skill of the usual teams was reduced...well there you go
As for H.Hughes, nah thats Hugh Hughes, my ex's dad

I've never given the default names much thought, although SM Fisher was always either 'Stupid Moron' or 'Super Man' depending on his performance between the sticks.
I did however create my own team with my friend Dunc when we were at school called 'Cheese Utd'..... the squad went something like this.....
1. Peter Stilton (old and mature but still tasty)
2. Norbert Roqufort (powerful french leftback)
3. Red Leicester (he's english and ginger, obviously)
4. Dave Cheddar (reliable, solid english centre-back.... everyone likes him)
5. Mark Cheshire (not bad, but crumbles under pressure)
6. Jean Claude Brie (silky left winger)
7. Peter Edam (half of the Dutch midfield partnership)
8. Dennis Gouda (the stronger of the two)
9. George Feta (greek international, at his best in the summer)
10. Danny 'Double' Gloucester (usually nets a brace of goals)
11. Simon 'Dairylea' Slice (prone to wayward shots but popular with the younger fans)
Subs included:
12. Primula with Ham
14. Primula with Chives.
Did anyone else have similar teams or are we 'special'?
