Well I'm not really a big fan of WHDLoad, it's both memory hungry and you need to buy and register to avoid a that stupid message on startup.
I was wondering how difficult it would be to make our own Player Manager (or Kick Off 2) version which plays off the harddisk. If we only target Amigas which play the games already we don't need to use a Kickstart replacement as WHDLoad does. Standard A1200 and A500 with 1mb would do I think. Still using the floppy drive for savegames/ tactics/ kits/ pitches would simplify the work. We would "just" need a program which loads a memory dump, turns off the OS and starts the game at the intro screen. I'm not an Amiga programmer but this can be done without too much hazzle I think. Kick Off 2 would still need to load kits and pitches off the floppy drive, but a special KO2 Data Disk with only the kits and pitches can be easily made.
Anyone (else than Camber) with 68K and Amiga programming experience?
