Hex editor for PM winUea run

Postby Wibble » Wed Feb 02, 2005 9:55 pm

I've read alot about a hex editor that can be used to edit the stats of say Alex Reeves in PM.

How does it work? I've found a number of hex editors on google, which is best and how do you edit the info

many thanks

Any hexeditor will do, as long as it can load and save files. In WinUAE write down
the stats (height, weight, age ...) of the player you want to change. Then in
the hexeditor open the datadisk-adf and search for the same sequence of numbers.
When you get a single match you've found the player, and you can change what
you want.

I recommend Hex Workshop but any hex editor is fine.
As for the stats, you have to do what Jesper said, just convert the numbers to hex first.
For example, if you want to find the number "198" which is someone's stamina, you won't find it like that in the hex editor. Open the windows calculator. Go to scientific view and choose Dec if it's not selected. Type 198 and select Hex. It automatically converts the number to hex. 198 is C6 in hex. You will also notice that all numbers will have 2 digits (if it's one, put 0 in front).
I've done it and you really can find them.

Hello all,

Thank you very much for your help.

I've been playing for 12 years with PM and I always wanted to have my player younger, for not to retire so early.

I found this web today looking for a rom of PM. It's great.
Do you know any other forums like this?

Regards.

Hi and welcome magnificus. If you also like Kick Off 2 you should get in contact with Rodolfo
as Filippo said. He is in desperate need of more spanish players.

Regarding the age of your player manager "just" do as explained above. Write down
the stats of your player manager. Open the savedisc in a hexeditor and look for
matching numbers. The sequence of the numbers can be found here:

http://www.kickoffworld.net/wiki/index.php?title=Squads

I suggest you look for Height, Weight, Stamina, Resilience. Convert your stats
to hex. This gives you a sequence of 4 bytes to search for. If you get more than
one match then extend the sequence. When you get a single match, simply change
the age byte (4 bytes prior to the Height byte).

Also, rumor has it that when players pass the age of 118 their stats start to increase
again :) Make a tactic where you place the PM in the corner for 60 season of so
and he should get some new life spirit

Do you have an original or a cracked copy, and do you play on the Amiga or a PC (or ST)?
If you have an italian original I bet Filippo will be interested. I think there is only one known cracked Player Manager version in italian. It is supposed to have a bug when you win Coppa Italia :?

I don't know wich version it is.
When I arrive home I'll try to tell you.
Is there any "easy" way to change the names of the database so I can make "my own" spanish league with names?

well... mmmm.. I dunno!
I was thinking none of the italian versions is working perfectly. and for sure FICA doesn't work, maybe oracle fixed some bugs...
anyway I have one original copy of the italian PM boxed ready to be dumped (just having some problems transfering files to my A1200 sice my mac and my pc don't have any floppy driver! )
