Pete, I had an email from sensiblesoccer.de this morning and it looks like your wish has came true...for Sensible Soccer at least:

Hi SWOS fans,

the next generation of Amiga SWOS online is now available exclusivly on SensibleSoccer.de! Make sure to check it out and play online with the rest of Europe. As usual, meet other players in the IRC channel #sensible. How to get there? Click on this link:

http://www.sensiblesoccer.de/index.php? ... zwerk_chat

Here is list of new features...

Improvements:

* Career mode (special save disc; working training mode), switchable

* New Peer-2-Peer Client integrated, switchable (incl. video recorder/-player)

* New Save Disk Updater integrated, makes updates fast and easy to use custom teams and tactics in online matches.

* Built-in program updater, check version & download eventual updates on button click.

* Process killer integrated, no more errors caused by double instances. If Winuae freezes just restart the application.

* Little modifications to the config of WinUAEXP, eg. a better sound plus the working training mode.

* New easy setup, incl. a complete uninstaller.

How does that work?

First of all switch to "P2P client" in the startup menu. Then click on "Play Amiga SWOS". Then you'll see the good old Winuae window. Launch kaillera as usual. Then click on "Change mode" and switch to "1. P2P". If you're the host then mark "SWOS @ SensibleSoccer.de v1.02" and click the button. Your opponent connects to your IP which you should give him before. You can ask for your own IP with the button "whatsmyip". The client uses "Connect" instead of "host". There he just enters the IP from his opponent. After both players have ticked "click here when ready" the game will start.

This would be so cool if this was done for Kick Off! Imagine having the lag reduced by the ability to connect peer to peer. Also have the opportunity to record whole games and automatically update to Steve's latest version!
Hopefully this improvement to SWOS will benefit Kick Off 2 in the long run.

Rayge and I did a quick test a few weeks ago but it didnt work.

However, Rayge says that is was probably because of a firewall. He says that it should work.
