Forget the issues of Lag
Forget the notion of it being unplayable
Forget any other issues which stopped you playing it and read on..
erm, actually, there's not much to say, but...
You may have heard me going on about ss.de which is a fine SWOS fan community. Anyways, unbeknownst to myself, Redhair has created a version for Kick Off 2 which has been lying dormant on the Internet..until now!
He’s also offered to update this, as and when Steve Camber updates Kick Off!
So you'r asking..what the hell does this have to do with me?
Well its a first step to creating online leagues and online tournaments!
Its so easy to do I have to say and there’s no problems with lag or any other gremlins (if you set it up correctly)
Firstly, download this:
http://www.meglomaniac.pwp.blueyonder.c ... ac089k.exe
To ensure maximum performance do the following:
Run in 16BIT Display
Make sure Connection Type within Kailerra is set to ‘LAN (60Keyframes)
Even if we didn’t have the automated software that ss.de has, this now gives us the chance to have the same tournaments…online!
I don’t see it as replacing the offline tournaments because nothing can beat them for having a laugh and playing Kick Off like in the good old days. But this now gives us the opportunity to have more widespread competitions and practice against top players

But how will you find opponents without a meeting point?
I've created a Webchat for you, to #kickoff on QuakeNet! You will be asked, if you want to install the Java chat, just accept it and you are in! It's very easy, check it out: http://retrokick.de/irc/kickoff.php
I will try to be online in this channel. Just want to see, if there are enough interested players here. If yes, we could register this channel...

Yes, you can use any joystick or pad which works under Windows!
BTW, you can order adaptors at our Flea Market: http://www.sensiblesoccer.de/quick/
(don't worry about the SWOS graphics, they will work with Kick Off 2 as well )
ADSL 768k is pretty good, you should get a ping of <80ms to play almost without lags... The best result you will get with activated fastpath (ask your provider). A ping of <40ms will give you nearly an offline-feeling!
You should try to be in the channel as often as you can, if you are afk or not, and you need a bit of patience... I will try to be there next days. I want to see, if there is an interest for Kick Off players to meet others and play online. I also will help you to set up the game and play some KO2 online-games.
If no one will join, it makes no sense and I will delete the page...

You could use there adaptors if you have an adaptor for USB, USB to Gameport or maybe Printer Port. Or you could use a new Competition Pro directly for USB. Or maybe you have luck to find an Amiga joystick to USB adaptor on eBay... But they are rare and maybe not cheap.
