Ok with Alkis getting 25 goals, and Wonka getting 24 I decided last night to sod all my morales and spend a few hours just trying to score goals.

2x5 international level etc settings as per the norm!

Anyway, as you are aware I aint the greatest player in the world, however I did manage 10-0 once and 8-0 three times. Not great compared to the two above but I was happy as I was using a gamepad thus lobbing etc is near impossible.

I am however improving and noticing new ways to score, whilst I don't normally find much fun in thrashing the cpu I am enjoying this a lot, so who else has registered high scores.

10-0 is going to be my official record, but I expect to beat it this weekend!

Since so many members are interested to getting top scores over the computer, I decided to give it a try myself. Last evenning I had a few games. The best score I achieved was a 16-0 and all the rest finished with more than 10 goals for me.
Note that when the computer used a 5-3-2 lineup, I was restarting the game.

The tactics seems to have poor defence.

Vas what tactics are the worst for the CPU to use (ie which can you score most against!)

I don't really check the tactics the cpu is using, however sometimes I find it harder to score lots (ie long balls over the top are defended etc etc!)

And what is your mostly used goal? Do you try and score the same goal when you are going for a high score or is it that you have a few tried and tested ways depending on the situation and sometimes they work!

That's easy: definitely Blitz. The CPU rarely (never?) starts with it though.

The worst tactic that the ai uses is deffinately the blitz tactic. It demostrates the worst possible defence. So when this tactic is applied, I use to pass the ball to the forwards with longballs from my half to the opponent's half. Then it's easy to score, either by dribbling the keeper, or by a curled shot (I mostky use the 1st option).

If I may ask, how exactly do you dribble the keeper Vasilis? I'd score twice as much if could accomplish that.

I'll describe it as scenes from a movie.
1. The forward takes possession of the ball, inside the penaly area near the pen.kick spot.
2. The keeper starts running towards him.
3. The forward makes a slight turn on the right/left or traps the ball on the spot.
4. The keeper is close enough to dive for the ball.
5. The forward points the stick either left or right, depending on which side is more visible.
6. The forward dribbles the keeper, who is running to the opposite side (!!!).
7. The forward is before the unguarded goal...

Shoot or walk in, both can be done. If you shoot the ball, the keeper is diving although he has no vision of the ball at all!!!
Maybe Alkis can make a jpg for that.

For the example's sake, let's imagine you're turning left.

Now do you mean a diagonal turn (up and left) or a 90o turn (just left) ?

4. The keeper is close enough to dive for the ball.
5. The forward points the stick either left or right, depending on which side is more visible.

But weren't you already turning left?! Or are you turning right now?

6. The forward dribbles the keeper, who is running to the opposite side (!!!).

huh????? I assume I'll have to try this in order to understand

Maybe Alkis can make a jpg for that.

Must be a gif, actually... but that would be awesome!!! Alkis?

I know what you mean, I will have to practice more.

Personally the majority of my goals are shots from the edge of the box, I just keep peppering the goal with shots (the joypad is crap for getting to rebounds tho!)

You'll soon be able to do it Binary mate. I couldn't until I saw Naz do it. Then I just practiced until I got the hang of it. Best bet to use the 'Practice' option and just do it over and over again till it's second nature
