Right then. They are definitly different (in gameplay terms). I've just been doing some practice using WinFellow and then Steem Engine. Here a list ;

1. Atari Version is Faster
2. Amiga Versions Aftertouch is more pronounced
3. Amiga Keepers are better at dropping the ball

Admitedly these are emulators but even so does make a difference.

I'm wondering if that explains why i'm so crap on the Amiga

Anyone else got any thoughts ??

You're right Ely, they are different.

What I've found most noticable from a gameplay point of view are :
1. Dribbling of the ball
2. Goalie A.I.
3. Ball to goal collision detection.
4. Game speed.

From a games programmer's point of view, I find the game speed difference quite alarming. I'd assume the logic rate runs at 50Hz on both machines, so if the code is the same, there should be no difference. I'd like to do some experiments to see exactly what the speed difference is, as I hope it's just a visual illusion brought about by the different pitch graphics.

Steve has assured me before that the only differences are graphical, but I'd like to hear what Dino has to say about it !

Agree with you guys on the differences, I have been playing on a real Amiga for a month or two and Atari since day 1.

The biggest one for me is the dribbling, the player keeps losing the ball behind him if I stop by holding the button down then start running again.

You're right, I think the keeper drops the ball more often but to compensate he gathers it up quicker maybe?? I can usually score on the Atari version if I blast the ball at the keeper and it bounces back off him, on the Amiga though he normally gets to the ball first!

I'm not scoring as well on the Amiga version either, a few of my little tricks don't seem to work so well. Still learning.

And the refs are blind! The b****** just gave four penalties against me in a 2x5 game!! They were all fair tackles I tell you

(STILL having password trouble, I requested a new one and it worked OK, now I get "you entered the wrong password" again. Arrrrrgh)

What I should also have said though is, it is not as different than I thought it would be. If you're a good KO2 player you'll be a good KO2 player on the other version, don't worry too much

I have never used an Atari ST, but as far as I can remember the game preview, published in a greek magazine ("Pixel") when it was released, was in favour of the Amiga version.

Well I'd say that the only difference I have noticed (but I haven't played constantly on an St for ooooooh years!) is the dribbling.
Its way different. You can turn easier on the Amiga without losing the ball but contrastingly it gets tied up under your feet more too.

Is there going to be an Atari ST in the tournament? I'd like to play some games, just to see what you're talkig about.
