KO2CV 1.08

Postby Steve Camber » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:18 pm

New features

- Bournemouth pitch graphics, artwork by Gianni as always.
- Split joystick mode using a parallel port adapter. Two team-mates control one half of the pitch each. So a two player game becomes a 2v2 and a one player game becomes 2vCPU.

Any problems, please let me know

OK first of all, I know there must be only 3-4 people in the world who care about that but since I'm one of them I'm very glad to report that whatever magic you and StingRay worked with the WHDLoad patch works perfectly. I simply replaced the file and the new version loaded just fine from the hard disk! :)

Thanks to Gianni for the new graphics, and to you too of course, Steve. It's so cheeky of you to have a list of 30+ suggestions for KO2CV and still come up with your own for the latest version! I'm not sure I understand this new feature correctly, is it something for the lucky few who have a parallel adapter?

Ah, the WHDLoad works, that's good :) The new method should work for many more releases.

The split control idea came to me one morning, and by chance later that day Garry suggested something very similar to me.
Yes it makes use of the parallel port adapter (very easy to get hold of or make!). Just adding a new dimension to tournament fun, especially when beer is involved. When the ball crosses the halfway line, control automatically switches to your teammate's joystick. So you can have a 2v2 game or 2vCPU game where you work together or just scream at each other in order to get the goals.
Obviously KO2 already had a 4 player mode, but it was tied to the play-in-position feature, where you ended up spending 80% of the time hoping that the AI would send the ball your way.

Having been fortunate to play this I can say the 4 player thing works brilliantly! Even when you only have 3 people hehe. A fantastic challenge to control 2 joysticks depending on which half the ball is...makes the game even more frantic than it is already hehe.

Well done guys.

One player takes defence, the other attack, and roles switch at HT. Team KO2 doesn't get any better than this!! As I said elsewhere, twice the players, ten times the fun! If you can, try it at your next tourney. Another HUGE thank you goes to Camberman 8)

A shout out to Costas too who first inspired us with 4P action during Helland IV when he brought his adaptor - you must check this out mate (or if not before, when you next come over :) ). Incidentally, anyone who hasn't got one, I picked up my mine for less than £10 from here.....

I think its time the world recognised Steve so I would like to reverse your kind compliment and give an even bigger one

LEGEND = STEVE CAMBER!!!

We no longer need the word Legend, we can replace its use in every day life to CAMBER!

Robbie Fowler is a Liverpool Camber!

See it works just as well
No longer the only UK based Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Crewe supporter in the whole of the KOA!!!
