just a week after the world cup I played a tournament of Sensible Soccer and I had the pleasure to meet some nice guys, among theme there was also the talented Sensible Soccer Italian Champion, a true pleasure to know him.
We had a nice chat comparing the games and the gameplay. I realised that there is much more deepness in sensible soccer gameplay. I always had a lite approach to SS but I must admit that there are many facets that can be appreciated in the game, and a deepness that still need to be revealed. just like in KO2 there are things that still surprise after 20+ years.
I realised that the SS interface is very well structured, it is studied to be keyboard free. basically you don't need to touch the keyboard in pre game and IN GAME. it is possible to change tactics or to call a substitution directly using the joystick. of course you cannot do it while the ball is in play. but this is quite realistic. in real match such big change on the tactic are driven in when the ball is out of play.
Jon Hare and the Sensible Software team had a great intuition in that.
Of course kick Off is not real soccer, we like kick off right because is not real soccer, we like it because it is just kick off. but I do think that in "my perfect kick off" tactics and substitution should be called exactly like sensible soccer does.

A couple of features we used to have that I miss:

1) Removing the AT choice before the beginning of every single game from the KO2CV options. This option used to be there but it was removed. It's very annoying having to choose three options every single time in a tournament where everyone wants to use the same rules. Must I be condemned to an eternity of "Alkis, what do I choose here?"? This is my main complaint about the latest versions...

2) Retaining the formation of Team A/B in the next match. I realize resetting this to 4-2-4 is useful in a world cup, but not when you are practicing alone or playing a best of 10. Any choice for an option to turn this off in KO2CV options?

Regarding 1), suggest displaying an indication on the main menu screen if the default WC settings are enabled, and then map a key or key combo to reset to these if they are not set.

Regarding 2), suggest you switch to 4-2-4 :D

About 1, I agree with Alkis, it was something we kindly asked to Steve also before the world cup. btw as far as I know, this is the first time an option is removed from KO2CV. I really hope that nice KO2CV option will come back.

About 2 instead I think it is very good as it is now! Anyway your objection makes sense and also KO2CV is going forward "best of 10" direction (the recent scores and recent stats seems it is going int that way), I think that it could be helpful to add a KO2CV option like "NO TACTIC RESET".
There is already a similar option in KO2CV: 3rd page: "NO TEAM RESET" maybe it would be possible to implement in this existent option or maybe add a new one for best of 10 players.

I'd like a very simple add on in KO2CV: PBD Switch key.
According with the reigning KOA rule set, PBD is something that can be changed during the match, this doesn't require agreement of the opponent, any time, like tactics for example.
The problem is that as the state is, the only way to do it is to cycle with "9" key.
To cycle with "9" key to set a specific setting that was wrong at the starting is a good method, but it isn't very friendly for a fast PBD switching.
So I would change the function of the "9" Key and use it for "PBD switch" and use the next key for "cycle APT"
Hope it could be easily done. thanks.
Or if you prefer to keep the "9" for "Cycle APT" like it is now, just use the next key for PBD switch.
thanks!

+1 for a dedicated PBD switch.
