Now that sounds interesting! If I can see what he's done, it could possibly be automatically applied to all future releases :)

That shouldn't be much of a problem. ;) Actually, there wasn't that much to patch, I just fixed a few bugs and cracked the game properly. Then I found the discussion about the "PB Dribble" feature/bug and had fun reading it. :D And I can assure that it has absolutely nothing to do with the missed checksum in the Oracle crack! I still wonder how Weetibix could overlook that one though. :) Actually, before I made that WHDLoad slave I didn't even know that the Oracle crack wasn't 100% as I used it back in the day and it always worked fine for me. Many hours "wasted" playing Kick Off 2 using the Oracle crack. Anyway, the missed checksum in the Oracle crack (and the Kick Off 2 CV version apparently :P) will cause the game to crash, not more, not less as the stackpointer is fucked up when the checksum is incorrect. If you're interested, check offset $899E in the decrypted Kick Off 2 file. ;) On a side note, the Final Whistle CV version is also not cracked properly, I noticed that when I did the WHDload patch. Yes, again, not all checksums were removed. :D Anyway, that was my first post here but hopefully not the last! I've been quite a Kick Off 2 fan since the game was released and it's funny to load it up (even if just to do the WHDLoad patch) again after so many years. ;)

Cheers, Stinger

WOW! Really interesting! so PBD is definitively not a bug!
Hope that our Steve Camber read your post soon!

I thought it was pretty much an established fact these days the PBD was a feature intended for CPU dribbling in Player Manager that made its way into human dribbling too in Player Manager and in some of the official KO2 versions, including the one that the oracle crack was based on!?

And that much of the confusion about the checksum/PBD relationship probably arose from the poor memory of the guy that let PBD slip into human dribbling in the first place!? :lol:

To be honest, I didn't even know about the PB dribble confusion until 2 days ago when I made the Final Whistle CV WHDLoad patch and needed to download the images from a certain ko-gathering site. :) Today I just saw the thread on this very forum about it and found it incredibly funny that there were rumours that it was caused by a cracking error, i.e. a missed checksum check. ;D

Mind you, those rumours came directly from the man who created KO2! (Or I have confused something, but it is not far from the truth.)

@gdh82 ,

whdload is a program that can be used in winuae or a real amiga , to make games working without floppies ( sort of hd install) , you can go here : http://www.whdload.de to have more info on how to use it .

Well, also Galahad claimed that this was caused by a cracking error... I searched the forum a bit and really had quite some fun with all these rumours also coming from someone who claimed to know the game code almost as good as Dino Dini. :) I also see people mentioning 9 checksum checks, I can only find 6 checksum checks in the 1.4 (i.e. Oracle) version and the one that Weetibix missed is at offset $899E as mentioned in my earlier post. I don't know when this checksum will kick in but obviously it doesn't happen very often (if at all) because I used to waste a lot of time with the Oracle crack and it worked fine as already mentioned too. :) Anyway, these rumours provided great entertainment, thanks for that. :D

Hey StingRay! Welcome to the KOA.

Just to confirm then, did PB dribble originate in Player Manager?
