Postby Logos » Tue Jan 20, 2009 11:33 pm

Hi all,

Can a 15 pin Greek CMS PC joystick connect to the amiga using a 15-pin to 9-pin adapter?

Shit! I forgot to answer your PM, I'll get to it.

As for your question, the answer is yes but you need to have the appropriate drivers as well, which kind of defeats the purpose considering that Amiga CMS sticks are still available.

I have a load of these PC CMS sticks so bought an adapter.. but it does not work. I believe its something to do with analogue to digital conversion not being in the adapter.. Camber ?

Thanks for the information Alkis and James.

It seems that I'll need to buy the Amiga 9-pin CMS joystick then.

I don't think it will work. Pin assignment for PCs (these adaptors are made for PCs) are probably different than the Amiga.
I believe though that you could build an adaptor which assigns the pins for Amiga use. Or put another wire with 9-pin for use with the Amiga and mod it for dual use!

Thanks for the advice Kostas. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or the knowledge to try that out. I will, however, as a solution buy the amiga version of the CMS. I recently bought the CMS PC version to use on WinUAE and I'm enormously impressed, although I was using a microsoft sidewinder before, which is not exactly ideal for playing KO2 with! :)
