At the risk of boring people, I want to repeat that we already have a version of KO2 with most "bugs" fixed and it's called Final Whistle.

mmm.... I don't like final whistle, to many "bugs" are fixed in that version: also the "bugs" that make KO2 an enjoyable game.
I mean that FW doesn't give me the KO2 feeling. but maybe that John, applying international teams and KO2 goalkeeper and normal tactics...

I'm right here ffs.

Rub it in some more?

Y'all keep on arguing about whether to fix the flawed game you've always loved, or leave it unfixed because that's what you like. I'll stick with having come to terms with never getting to play the already fixed game I've always loved.

But please don't denigrate the less flawed game on account of it being less flawed. Just stick with the truth that it's not what you grew up with and that's why you don't like it, as opposed to it not being the better game.

What bugs are fixed in FW?

More of a modification I would have thought. Still got a crappy weak Team B, throw-in bug etc etc. Just more bugs added in I would imagine, I mean the offside rule is a joke surely?!

Come on Mark, Final Whistle was released in 1991, most of us bought it right away and very enthusiastically as we did every KO incarnation that preceded and followed KO2. It's not like we had been playing KO2 for 10 years and it was too late for us to change. Otherwise we would have all stuck to Kick Off 1 or Extra Time. There's a reason we all chose KO2 as the main KOA even instead of Kick Off Extra Time, Final Whistle, the expansions disks or Goal, and there was nothing psychological about it; we simple liked it more.

Hm, if everyone bought all incarnations mate, I have to wonder why PBD users are so prevalent.

Regardless, I was responding to the following:

Yep, I'm sure all game evolutions you've been involved in have been a simple case of adding more bugs mate.

Offsides were an optional joke. One I've personally never used. Weak team B was obviously not a bug.

Being as you're the one that knows the code, presumably of both games from what you've said here, and being as I couldn't care less, why don't you list all ABC bugs in KO2 and FW, compare the lists and see for yourself?

I can't speak for everyone, but in my case all Anco disks died within months so thank God for pirate copies. That never happened with other (admittedly few) original disks I had so I reckon they were using the worst disks in the history of magnetic storage devices, either that or my Amiga didn't like Anco.

I have more productive things to do with any spare time I get. JohnW is the official FW archaeologist, not me. I used to play it with the Beards in the old days, but I think my last game was our 1-1 draw in Stoke if memory serves.. which it probably doesn't ;)

Weak team B was a bug, as opposed to supposedly addressing home advantage?

Correct as home advantage in Player Manager.
It should have been removed for subsequent KO releases, hence the bug status.
