Have you never played Final Whistle Garry? Gaydn and I used to play it a lot and I missed the overhead kicks when going back to KO2.

overheads were great fun!!!
but they messed up your headers sometimes!!

Ref running about.
AI seems different.
Tactics depend on attacking or defending.
Keeper saves everything.

I'm not sure if Steve's already looked at this and found they were encoded, although I could be wrong. In any case that should be relatively easy to work around. The bumpy pitch does have very specific extra code to give it it's bumpiness though.

After building my skills on KO2CV for the past couple of months, I also found it frustrating going back to FW as none of my 'keeper beating moves work! They do have weaknesses though just like the KO2 ones - they're just different.

I think the best FW feature is definitely the 2-way tactics. Because the opposing team backs off when you take possession the long ball is no longer an easy option, it takes real skill to receive a long ball and use your first touch to knock it past the last man. The deeper defense also means there is more space in midfield run at a defense or pass your way through it.

Thanks John.

Sounds like FW is quite a bit more sophisticated than KO2 - really looking forward to re-visiting after all this time.... :D 8)

you're missing:

PIP with the goalkeeper on 4 players mode 8)
it implement a new short lob 8)
improved kit editor 8)
offside 8) 8)
improved sound effects 8)

basically it's the most evoluted kick off ever created 8)

its downsides are:
it runs only on 1MB machines :?
goalkeeper too strong :oops:
offside buggy :(

Just got iFWCV going on winuae :) Thanks again John! Even though my comp pro usb is practically unusable, I love the sound fx.

* Love the 'ooo-wayyyy, oo-way, oo-way, oo-wayy' chant every corner!!! 8)

* Love the 'crowd cheer with drum beat' every goal!!! 8) (Had to put it on 2-player to score! :oops:)

* Love the 'ugh' sound when a player is 'knocked over' :lol:

* The crowd cheer itself is better too - less white noise, more realistic!

All these sounds, imo, give the game extra atmosphere 8) Btw the corners are very different - is it just a choice of power ? Great the see the overhead kick movement again, even if I haven't connected with the ball..... yet..... :D

Wasn't that "Come on, Palace, come on, Palace, come on, Palace, come on!"? Or am I completely wrong?

I'll have another listen later....but I prefer my more 'neutral' version! :) Was Dino or Screech a Crystal Palace fan then ?

I stand corrected, Alkis :) Even if I still prefer the misheard line! ;) Maybe we should have a re-recorded 'KOA chant' for KO2CV ?

Yes, apart from power selection done from the 9-way box, they are very much like the free kick control - i.e.:
    * length of fire button press determines height
    * Joystick direction prior to kick gives start direction
    * Apply aftertouch to taste

Harder to control than the standard KO2 ones but a damn sight more flexible - check this out here: http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 8&hl=en-GB

Wow! Check out this video indeed! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) I wanna do that too! :)

Thinking about it, be good if that same 'power box' came up for free-kicks too ?

That should teach John to never open new possibilities to Garry!
