KO2CV - 0.92

After a short break due to work commitments, development is now back on track. Gianni requested a PBD default on mode for the upcoming Milan tournament, and I have been thinking of how to introduce this in a simple way.
The current solution has been to use NOPBD as default, with PBD players required to remember to hit 5 at the start of the game. This could be thought of as unfair, and also annoying for PBD players who play many games at home with the amiga out of reach.

New Feature

PBD mode is selectable on the squad screen. The player must go Left+Fire or Right+Fire to select the default control mode. Pressing 5 during the match will continue to function as before.

After so many requests and so much time, you get back to KOCV development, only to please the Dark Side? Steve, the World Champion is dissapointed.

It does look cool though :)

Tonight I have played with Maurizio L. with CV-0.92 for at least 3 hours.

Unfortunately we have found 2 bugs, the first not so great, the second doesn't allow to use this version in a tournament in my opinion.

1st bug: when teamB can choose the players and the tactics don't see 433 but 424 - blitz - 442 - 532.

2nd bug: in the first 12 games me and Maurizio have played with PBD as usually for us, and we have seen that every time teamA win the toss.
So we have tried to do PBD selection for teamA and NOPBD for teamB; in this case teamB has win the toss.

After having tried various combinations we arrived to the conclusion that if team A and B select the same setting (PBD or NOPBD) teamA win the toss everytime. If the choice is different (tA PBD and tB NOPBD or tA NOPBD and tB PBD) teamB win the toss everytime.

This can create situations in which teamB do its selection for to win the toss or not, so we haven't random choice.

Mmm, now I see again Gianni's video and in teamB screen there are the 4 standard tactics....
We haven't used ET and it' s very improbable to have selected blitz tactic for mistake during the game, and in any case at the end of every games the tactics would have to return to default as previous versions.

In Gianni's video we can moreover see that teamB win the toss for two time.
First time teamA select PBD, teamB NOPBD.
In the second time teamA and teamB selects PBD but in contrast with my previous post teamB win the toss.
I don't know what happens, we have played with A600, Gianni with A1200. Could be a floppy's reading error or a different loading on these Amiga?

I confirm that on my 1200 there aren't problems, maybe it is a problem of A600 chipset.

There is always the small possibility that the toss just randomly appeared to go along with the settings used. How many times was the problem observed?
