Joystick for PC?

Postby Steve1977 » Tue Jan 09, 2007 9:41 pm

After looking on the main page I cant believe that Competition Pro are doing a USB stick for the PC! Im sick of all these other joysticks that seem flimsy with tons of buttons...just give me a good old robust arcade joystick anytime!

But can anyone recommend where to get one? Or indeed...anyone know where i can get a greek stick?

Cheers

Got one. It's not as good as the olde CompPros. Different feel.

Mine had a problem straight out of the box.

I'm now using a USB converter for my old Amiga Suzo Arcade stick, which works perfectly!

Yeah, I've got one too, having been a compro man in yesterday. Must admit I'm considering changing joysticks but not sure to what though ! :?

I was surprised how few of the KOA actually use Comp Pros!

Well I brought this on 9th Jan and it now doesent work properly. I have been playing on it every night but these are robust..or at least should be! I used to play every night on my Amiga's joystick, id take it down my mates...throw it in a fit of anger and it would still come back for more!

When I move it to the 10o clock position (diagonal left and up)..without any movement it then moves to 12 o clock. Which isnt good enough for the precise movements needed in Amiga games. hehe.

Has anyone else had this problem or is the joystick (the newer one) generally regarded as a liability?

Im looking into the possibility of getting a refund and buying another joystick

Is the Greek stick robust? What joysticks are people using and have been using with no problems?

My USB Comp Pros have played up (certain movements e.g left horizontal & forward intermittently stop working). Even had one of them replaced! The other one's not 100% so losing faith in them :(

Thanks for the recommendation, Freshie. I'm not clued up the other choices so further suggestions welcome. :)

You'll have to nicely ask the Greek members if they are prepared to buy and send you one. Afaik, it is the best joystick you can buy new for playing KO2. And I'd say they are pretty robust - people who've seen me play will surely agree that if a joystick can last years with me, it's gotta be robust. :)

Can these joysticks or any other sticks be used both with a pc and an amiga ? For a winuae man that would be perfect if possible! 8)

You can buy an amiga joystick and use an adaptor for the pc, as you can see here:

afaik = as far as i know :)

The CMS ("the Greek Stick") is available both for the PC game port and the Amiga (9-pin?) port. So it's an either/or decision - but there is a method for using Amiga joysticks with the PC, see our Wiki: http://www.ko-gathering.com/wiki/index. ... _modern_PC

I recommend (or rather: use) the Amiga 4-Player-Adapter, which you'll have to find on Ebay. It plugs into the parallel port and with the right driver (called PP Joy) you can use two 9-pin-joysticks with your PC.

(Spyros beat me to it - I thought you were having lunch, my Greek friend?)
