If a goal width is 88 units, then 88u=7.32m=73.2cm =>
1 unit = 0.83cm

Which makes the field length 115.5x75.7 meters, which is a rather big field but within FIFA regulations.

7.32 meters = 732 cm so one unit is 8.3 cm. :)

How about saying 1 unit equals 8 cm or 0.08 meters?

Fair enough, Menace - maybe we should stick with pixels after all!

Steve Camber wrote:The distance is in game units, which are pixels.

As an example, the pitch is 912x1392.
A goal width is 88 units.
A goal height is 28 units.
The penalty box is 192 units 'high'.

So how does that compare?

Shall we say that 1 unit = 10cm?

Thx for the further details, Steve!

Just my 2 cents : regulations are stricter for international games :

Scored from a lob earlier today with a distance of 585 pixels which, using Steve's rule of thumb of 1pixel=10cm, works out at 58.5 metres :D Beat that!

Perhaps the goal distance could be displayed on screen together with the 'GOAL !' text in a future comp version?

You read my mind ;)

Actually, what I'd like to do is give a few more goal stats when a goal is scored. Distance for lobs, number of passes leading up to a goal, speed of ball etc. Anything that a commentator might say really. Also the crowd will boo KO lobs and possibly BLCs if done too often.

Quality lobs from lobbing experts will of course have both teams jumping for joy and the crowd cheering like crazy! ImageImageImageImageImage

Really like your goal stats ideas, Steve. They'd add more talking points during the game too, I think.

If you work out how to include the number of shots on the auto-stats, could you possibly add a goals/shots ratio. It seems to be from my WC experience the better players stick a goal in every 3 or so shots (i.e 1/3) whereas players like me are more like 1/9 or even worse! (assuming I get some shots, that is)

Ah yes....goals, shots on target, shots off target (ie within a certain width of the posts/bar).

So something like:

Goal attempts 12

Goals 3
Shots on target (saved) 5
Shots off target 4

Possible?

More goal stats will be added, not only at the end of each half, but when each goal is scored. It's a simple enough job to do, and I agree it creates a talking point.
