Anyone interested in a 'result only' remake of PM
Posted: Tue May 17, 2005 9:04 am
Is anyone interested?
I would probably be willing to do this, but my 'arcade' skills are naff.
However management games are a thing I love to code and could probably get to grips with this game from my experience...
It will never get finished tho of course
I can make it like the original, or add bits as people request.
I will think about it if the response is positive.

I will highly interested in some remakes of PM, like:
- Good players get international experience
- Manage the database, so I can change the names into spanish, french or other ones before creating a league.
- Change the color of every team clothes.
Shall it be possible?

Erm I probably will not do the 'game' part so chaging team kit colours is not an option really because there isn't much point if you are not playing the game.
However other things are certainly possible.
I can create an original remake and then create the new version with international leagues and players etc if you like.
I showed Foxsoft an old Management game I made a few years ago, so I am very capable of writing this sort of thing. In the old game I had about 28 leagues from around the world, with a database of approx 18,000 players. PM would be easier because the players would all be made up so I would not need to keep it updated.
I could have multiple nationality databases, each team would be allocated players based on its location first but every now and again they would get a foreign player. However this gets away from the original so my first task would be to remake the managerial side of the original PM, trying to keep the gameplay intact and even the menus etc just updating the graphics a little and making it easier on the eye.
If people are interested I am up for it.

Keeping the part where we can play football (not only show results), that should be the PERFECT PM!!!

But I cant do that, thus the reason I am asking if anyone is interested in a 'result only' version.
It will be excellent anyway, and who knows in the future I may have a go at making a football part.

Well I have started it anyway.
I am trying to make it as authentic as possible, once I have finished it I will add improvements.
However for now authenticity is the key, perhaps making the colours a little less garish in the process
I will try and keep people posted with WIP images etc etc....
No doubt I will forget to finish this just like the other 1000 titles I started....

Mark, why do you ask? You aren't going to finish it. You are going to code for a week, write something that seems very primising, maybe even make a site for it, and then forget it altogether.
People, don't trust Mark Williams. Don't. I'm still waiting to play his Match Day remake.
BTW, what is the current progress on Dictator?
