An exclusive? If a magazine wanted an exclusive so bad would they really tuck it away on page 99 and use it so small?

SWOSrules? What is this an epidemic of offenders?
Of course they would tuck it away so that they can claim that this was just an unknown source. I've been there, I was a journalist.

Vas mate, whilst I can see why we are all getting fed up and stuff the point is that Acclaim handed the guy a copy and the guy reviewed it as he saw fit.

Not much we can do about it, it isn't fair in our eyes, but its done.

Coming on here and starting a flaming match is not exactly perfect behaviour, but as far as the review is concerned it does look like the fault lies with acclaim.

Anyway, I saw a post somewhere (I think it was Bagpuss) and he put it perfectly. We love the game and at the end of the day it may not outsell Fifa et al, but if it does well enough for Anco to let Steve loose on UPM then thats good enough for me.

I would love Steve to make a million from the game, but if he doesn't it doesn't change the fact that in my mind he has written a game I have been waiting for ages and its better than I thought possible. In the big scheme of things the boy done good.

Cheers,

Mark

That's exactly what I'm trying to imply. Steve's initial concern is to make a game that we'll like. And he'll create UPM no matter how good the game will do in the market.

I hope my email wasnt the cause of all the nonsense from the CVG guys.Saying that my email was a gut reaction, which although expected it was maybe a little hasty.I and the rest of the KOA now know it wasnt CVGs fault and i do apologise for any offence i may have caused.Anyone fancy a bite of my humble pie?

This bit can't be right ;

The control system is needlessly complicated. The original game used one
fire button and a joystick (remember those?), but Kick Off 2002 stupidly
uses four buttons to kick the ball and run.

What the hell is he on about ???

Hello people.

I reviewed the PS2 version of KO 2002 for PlayNation. The version that has since been discredited by the developers.

I loved Kick Off 2, and the version I played had much of the same spirit at least - hence to reasonable score. For the record, FIFA 2002 scored 6, UEFA Champions League a 5 and Pro Evolution Soccer 9. I've been pestering Acclaim for a copy of the finished PC, but they haven't obliged.

So don't assume I don't know what I'm talking about, because I do. For the record, I'm the Kick Off 2 World Free-Kick Master (self appointed).

Whether you know or not what you're talking about is irrelevant, as the PS2 version was at an alpha stage and was not supposed to be reviewed (which was Acclaim's fault of course, not yours). I'm sure you'll get your chance to review the excellent PC version.

This should and shoudnt have reviewing situation is getting out of hand and to be honest somewhat boring. If finished code of any version is reviewed and given an honest score then fair enough but until then...enough!
