Well, finally a reaction from Riempie here. It's 14:50 over here (13.50 UK time) and I don't have to work today, I took a day off, because I know I wouldn't be in the mood for working. I slept almost all morning dreaming of all the good moments of the weekend. Now I just finished reading your posts for the past 40 minutes!!! Here are my impressions of the tournament:

2 November:

Me and MrDig arrived on friday and had the possibility to see a tiny bit of London, the only thing we saw was the Big Ben and that was about it. Well, we were here for the tournament, so we went on straight to Dartford. We took some beers at London Bridge station because we still had some time. Instead of drinking a beer we better could have looked for the Tower Bridge because we found out afterwards it was only a 1 minute walk away. At about 20:00 we arrived at the hotel and the first people we saw were Helmut and Klaus, shortly after that Steve showed up and he really looked like I expected him to be. A few hours later we've spoken to all 15 competitors that arrived that day.
The visit to TGI fridays on friday evening was really great. We've spoken about many nostalgic KO2 moments. After a good meal suddenly Alkis showed up with his book with little pieces of paper with all 32 competitors written on it. He prepared the whole drawing and he took it very seriously which was very cool. At that moment we knew he would be Mr. Organization. The oooohhh'sss and aahhh'ss were very funny to hear because nobody could have known how good everybody was. After some good laughs we went back to the hotel and we immediately started to play some practice games. That was the first time when I saw something of the skills and I must say I was surprised. Surprised because a lot of people made substitutes and changed tactics during the game which me and my brother never do. We always play 4-2-4 and never substitute a player. Maybe that was one of our mistakes. After 2 hours of practice it was time to get some sleep because we had a very serious tournament the next day.

3 November:

In the morning the other competitors arrived at the hotel, finally we knew all the faces behind the nicknames. A shame <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> Stainy couldn't make it though, so he was the only one who was missing. Off course we started the tournament with some practice games again and my first game that day was against Robert Swift. I remember that game very well and I'm sure Robert remembers it very well too because I gave him the victory by scoring a nice own goal in the last seconds of the game. He had to tell everybody he got a goal from me <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> But I was ready for the tournament.... At least that was what I thought. I started very bad because I had only 4 points out of three. I gave Fabio his first and only point and I lost 5-1 to Olivier. But then I seemed to be really warmed up because after that I got the neccesary points to end at the fourth place in the group.

4 November:

The second group stage seemed very difficult to me, because I was in the group with Alkis, Anthony and Kees. The first match wasn't very promising because I lost 7-0 to Alkis. Unbelievable how that guy played, I really didn't get one chance. Thank God I won the second match against Anthony with a 5-0 score (Thanks Anthony <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">) The final match against Kees would be very important. I had to win the game, because Kees would have gone through with a draw. In the last minute I made 2-1 and I was through. Hurray!! The quarter final I had to play against Steve Camber again. We've met each other in the group stages, in which we played a draw (2-2). The quarter final against Steve was a very close match because over 2 legs I defeated him with a 1 goal difference. I was very pleased to be in the semi-final, especially after a bad start. But the worst thing still had to come. I had to play against Alkis again <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif"> Off course I lost again with big numbers (9-2 over two legs). He really is a clever player. He's good in all aspects of the game, defending, attacking etc. He play's very effectively. So, he definitely deserved to win. It was ok to loose against him, because he was better. At least my brother still was in the semi-final, his 2 leg match against Gianluca (The Foxsoft) was a very cool match to see. Both players have a very smooth play, they can dribble and score unbelievable beautifull stylished after-touched goals. But in the end one player had to go through and I was pleased it was my brother. But then, he had to play against Alkis. Altought my brother had a good start, Alkis won the tournament with his hard to defend constant play. Mr. Organization has won the tournament. Congratulations Alkis!!!

Overall, I never expected the tournament to be so fanatic. You had to see the face expressions during the game. I hope you've got some nice face expressions on tape Ely!!! I really enjoyed the reactions of the players while playing a game or watching a game. The words 'filth, shame, no need' really will bring on memories to this tournament. Also the support during the game was very cool. I remember some:
'Come on brother, don't let the fans down!'
'Oh come on, give him a goal!'
'Come on MrDig, keep on digging, you're almost there!'
'The moment when the guys from Arnhem clapped their hands and said: 'Dig' or 'Niels'
Does anybody remember some more?

It was a great succes and many thanks have to go out for especially Steve and Alkis. If Alkis wasn't there, then I think we were still doing practice games now. And off course Steve, who payed for the rooms on saturday all by himself and who made the tournament possible. Also thanks to Ely for recording the tournament, too bad there weren't too many people who were interested in an interview, right Ely? And off course a big thanks to all the players who showed up on the tournament and who were responsible for the pleasure they gave us. It was a shame <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> though I haven't spoken that much with all players. I should have spoken more to the Beard's, the italians, the Germans etc... Well, maybe I'll get a chance next year. If I'm coming to Greece, then it will definitely be a long vacation.

Thanks all!!

Final quote:
'There was no need <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> for players to play filthy <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif"> so they are a shame <IMG SRC="/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif">'

Hi Riempie - Nazim here

You really captured the feel of the weekend in that post - a beautiful dream spot on! and I managed to get KO2 working on my A1200 after 5 years of it sitting in a box - what a beautiful lush green sight - anyone who played on my Amiga at the gathering will have seen the duller pitch my A500 and modulator have been producing for all that time. Thanks for the tips!

Wow Riemer, that sure was a fine summary. Just a couple of inconsistencies to be corrected:
-Fabio gained 2 points, not 1.
-You beat Kees by 3-2, not 2-1.
Remember, remember, the 4th and the 3rd of November

Thanks Alkis, I already had a doubt about the scores and points while writing that summary. I didn't have all results with me. This proves again you're really Mr. Organization
