One of the downsides to inviting overseas players is that if they do well it will reflect unfairly on other uk players rankings. Also less uk players will be able to take part, which takes something away from the tourney which is supposed to be an all UK affair.

Riemer is of course welcome as long as he doesn't win. After all, how could he be the UK champion?

Thankfully I think he understands the situation, as in our game he scored the best own goal ever seen. It couldn't have been an accident. It was probably the most intense piece of skill in the tournament. This shows everyone what a true gentleman he is. I think there's certain other people (not naming names!) that could learn from this display of sportsmanship.

Im still trying to get an amiga at present so i can get into some serious practice.
Ive been offered an amiga 500+ and a philips monitor for £30 the only problem is the guy lives in Yorkshire.
Anyone have some idea of how much postage would cost?
Oh sorry forgot this is a tourney thread,im looking forward to the UK compo although i do fear heavy defeat.

Cool! I've got a Philips monitor too! I swapped it with James Lockerbie for a crap portable TV, and he ain't never getting it back!

Post should be about £30 too. But it's worth it. Cheaper than going down the pub.

Robert,

I took my 1-0 defeat against you really well so I hope that your comment about sportsmanship is not aimed in my direction at all.

I know me and a few others HECKLED you a few times but I think you would agree that it added to the spirit of the event and made it great fun.

Come on Jacob !!!

Points accepted Mr Beard.

From my lowly position of 9th in the World I still have a lot to learn from others - for example, from those who are 8th in the World.

We should set a date for the UK championships and start to draw up a list of names as soon as possible, while we still have momentum from The Gathering.

One of the reasons why The Gathering worked well is that people knew the date so far in advance, they planned for it and there were very few drop outs. I don't expect anyone has, say, the 23/34 March booked up this far in advance, so it would make sense to pick such a date and stick to it, so people can work around it.

We also need to appoint someone in charge of organising the venue. Despite the fact it's a UK tourny, it's still a good idea if we make it an overnight affair. Might be a good idea if we consider a block-booking of a Travel Tavern or similar. Perhaps we will bump into Alan Partridge there.

Any comments?

Yeah I agree about 1. Being an overnight thing, it's not just the KO2 playing that's fun but also the general banter we can have in a Pub/Restaurant, and 2. Getting the date sorted, means I can sweet talk the girlfriend for longer and she can't complain when it comes along

Oh and I personally would like Alkis to come back over before next year.

I reckon we all put some money together for the guy to get a flight over for a few days, maybe even participate in a few matches..

I ain't met the guy yet, but I certainly want to.

what ya say Alkis? You buy the beers and we'll pay for your flight. Oh and Stainy as well.

Robert, I dont think you could learn much from me mate after all you did score the only goal in our game, ( you remember the one that never crossed the goal line)

Your game against Steve Camber and your game against Jacob were even more tense if I remember.

I was thinking of hosting the event in Gloucester in a Forte hotel or something like that but I guess it depends on the cost of getting the room for two days and also, more importantly location of Gloucester in relation to the majority of UK players.

Perhaps we should have a map of location of all UK based players and work out the best place for the event based on that.

I think London should be out of the question because a) that is where the gathering was held and b) the M25 motorway...

I'll play anywhere, even host it at my house (only kidding like, but anywhere else is cool!)

As for you dan the man, you can pay fer yer own plane ticket out of the shirt money you swindler.

Would have thought at the moment US - UK flights would be next to nothing.

I believe BA are gonna offer all sorts of deals in the next few months to get people in the seats etc.

I should be back in the US sometime early next year so you can have the missus' ticket home and I'll leave her out there!

That'll teach her.
