This is a BIG problem here in Italy:
What happen when a player press the esc button during the game?
Example: when the opponent scores 4 goals in 2 minutes, a angry guy could shut off the game with ESC...
I'm not joking, it could be happen. In my opinion if this happen there will be a BIG penalization!

Surely if it done on purpose who ever does it should automatically lose that game. Perhaps more than once and they're out of the tournament. That way it'll put people off doing it. Anyone else care to comment ??

On my keyboard there is quite a big gap between ESC and F4. There's no way anyone can do this 'by accident'. Press ESC and you lose the game automatically.

The only problem is it messes up the goal difference for the other player.

Difficult to make a rule for this one, as its better if people just don't do it.

Hmm, tricky about the Goal Diff bit. Perhaps 3 - 0 would seem reasonable. Hopefully GDiff won't come into it

With small(ish) groups, then GD could be very important in, say, who comes 4th and who comes 5th. If I am beating someone 8-0 and they press ESC, do I get the 8 goals or do I get a default 3-0 score? What then happens if I come 5th by -1 goal difference?

If it happens then i suggest the presser loses by 3 nil or more if he was already losing by more. A ruling could be made if it was a crucuial goal difference game that the lost time be made up for in a follow up game for a certain amount of game minutes. I don't think it will happen however as it wouldn't be in the spirit of the occaision.. i hope anyway.

If someone comes up with a complete idea, let me know. Better safe than sorry.
Which reminds me: Do we all agree that if something that hasn't occured to us happens during the tournament, Steve will make the final decision?

I'll beat up hard anyone that presses the esc button while playing against me. I won't accept any excuses.

Well the same bouncers who are stopping the 'knocking someone's joystick before a lob attempt' can be used to beat someone who loses their temper and presses the escape key.
Hopefully that won't happen if *everyone* has their happy meals.

I have never pressed the esc button while losing. Never. It's a matter of pride. You can always catch up with the score, no matter what. There is no safety goal differance in KO. What if someone loses 3-0 in the first minute? That can be 3-4 right in the next minute. I think many of us have seen this happening.

Thats very true, in my first KO tornament in London, I was down 4 - nil in the first half, and I lost 5- 4 so all is never lost!
