Preston? Yeah, that sounds do-able.
Re: UK Championships 2024 Preston
Hi all,
thank you, this is sort of thing I was hoping for, particularly for equipment! I'm aiming during February to decide when this will be, and will probably choose between June 1 / 8 / 22 / 29, July 13 / 27, or August 3 / 10, so please reply here or message me if any of those are problematic.
England will play in Euro 2024 at 8pm on 29 June if they finish second in their group but that might actually be a good thing; less so if they top the group and win again and therefore play 5pm on 6 July so I'm avoiding that.
Room is £150 so I might have to ask for £15 in advance and adjust nearer the time when we have reliable numbers, but that can wait for a month or two.

Hi all,
the venue is getting booked up a lot faster than I expected so I've asked them to hold Saturday 1 June and I aim to confirm the booking in the next week. Please all let me know if 1 June is OK! At the moment there are three or four other Saturdays around summer available.

Hi all,
I've messaged a few people but so far it's just five people sounding positive. I'm hopeful lots of people just haven't seen the post yet and more will notice, but I'm nervous both of putting the deposit down without more interest, and of not booking it and it getting booked up - backup plan is have it at my house which is obviously cheaper (free!) but then it's probably a limit of four computers, which wouldn't be enough if there were lots more people. Anyhow I'll not do anything for a few days more, but if any of you can spread the word or have advice on how many people usually turn up in relation to those showing early interest, that would be great!

Steve! Nice one.
so, this is all very promising and I'll keep 1 June, because it sounds fine for all concerned, and it's a nice memorable date.
However I'm thinking now it'll be better to just do it at my house.
Positives: free entry for everyone, no walk home for those staying here, still plenty of tea and coffee but also no restrictions on alcohol, parking all manageable, there's a decent Chinese takeaway 100 metres away, we can change the date without cost.
Negatives: I'll have to cap attendees around 12 but that's probably fine as it's not looking like we'll get that many!
I've got plenty of room for two Amigas in a big kitchen-diner, and two more can fit in the lounge, but after that it's just the garage, which might be OK but would be a pain if it's raining. Four Amigas I think should be enough, opinions welcome...

It will be with pleasure Ian.
I check the train , but, unfortunately, the journey is too long by train:-(
Is it far from the airport manchester international to preston?( 40 km?right?)
This option is well possible
