Re: 2018 WC - The results
Group games done, still need to do the knockout results. Some people's writing...

Edit 15 Nov 2018: New file uploaded with knockout results. However, I forgot to take the pieces of paper with penalties and extra time scores separate, so all second leg scores include extra time goals and penalties (apart from Robert v Alessandro which I could remember). If anyone has the papers or can remember their penalty shoot out scores, please reply or private message me and I'll correct it.

Steve C has scanned me the papers, thank you! Will update the spreadsheet later.

Well spotted Chris!
The paper copy and the laptop results confirm this so I expect it's just a typo.
Great work Ian, I expect it's no easy task.

Re: 2018 WC - The resluts
good Job Ian!
Just looking without the calculator I've got an idea of who won best attack and best defence.
Best Attack is not a mystery, instead the best defence is surprising me a lot.
it's 2 different players. but as said I could be wrong.

Re: 2018 WC - The resluts
Thanks guys.
OK, spreadsheet should be final now, with penalties and extra time separate, and Chris v Andy corrected.
Andy, Rob,
the best attack and best defence prizes - are they a simple count of goals? Or is it goals per game? Do we exclude extra time and penalties?

Re: 2018 WC - The resluts
it is the goal average so goals/games.
extra time and penalties don't count in the average

Re: 2018 WC - The results
There should really be a little asterisk next to Sandro's wins over Mick C in the play-offs which were awarded results rather than actual KO2 games, due to Mick leaving early. If anyone is ever entering all these results into a database somewhere (AUA?), they should skip those two.

@Milan 2016 we had the same problem of people (mostly Italians and usually are local players of the hosting country) who suddenly abandoned the tournament room and we had to fix the RTWC on the fly but we didn't entered any result for them.
We were quite welcome to people coming like the Ibiza guys who were joining just for day one, like Panni and Peter did this year. (of course just a shame they couldn't make it till late Sunday like past year!)
But we should study something for suddenly quits. a formula that doesn't hurt who (for any reason) has to left early but, above all, something that doesn't hurt who is behind the software fixture and the organisation of the world cup.
We cant use a fixed result as it would corrupt the goal average of the leaving player(s) and the players that remain.
I would also suggest to study a fixed and agreed rule in those situations of players who play just day one.
As for example Peter K wasn't that happy with the applied rule. Probably a clear rule about it (declared before the world cup and not during the world cup) could help to accept some difficult organisers' decision.
We are quite routinised after 18 years of world cup but there are still few leak we should care about.
