Room now booked - UK Championship. Sunday May 7th 2017

Postby JohnVella » Wed Mar 01, 2017 8:40 pm

Hi all,

As most of you are aware, I have been, with a lot of help from Andy, organising the UK Championships, which will take place on Sunday May 7th 2017.

I have booked the room and confirm the following details:

Venue

Premier Inn Manchester

Premier inn Website

Nearest station is Manchester Piccadilly, which is, according to the website, 200 yards away.

There is also information about parking on the Premier Inn link above.

Meeting Room 2

Meeting room information

The room is booked from 8am to 5pm, (not my choice, that's the standard time).
I will start another thread for equipment requirements, at which time I can liaise with those bringing Amigas and TV's, to arrange a time to drop off and set up.

There is unlimited water and coffee included in the room.

The cost of the room is £162, to be divided between participants. Please bring cash, and expect to pay about £20 depending on the final number that attend.

Hotel rooms can be booked and will cost approx £46 per night, (more details in top link).

This venue has been selected as it is really close to Manchester Picadilly rail station, so coming in on the train may be an easier option for some of you.

Rule set - all as per 2015 World Cup.

If your name is not already down and you wish to attend please do reply to this post, and I'll add you to the list.

Provisional attendees:

01. JohnVella
02. iankay
03. Lee W
04. Fiery Pheonix
05. Logos
06. Steve Camber
07. chrisad
08. Mark V
09. Mick C
10 Robert Swift

Great work at sorting this out, waiting for my pal to confirm, but even if he does not come, I will be there.

Ok to ask a few questions as never been to one before?

1. Take it all played on original Amiga's? Only as I play via an emulator

2. Do we need to bring any stuff - provide our own joysticks I guess?

3. I presume you play using the latest Championship version?

4. Do you play in a league format so everyone is guaranteed a number of games, play each other twice - or is it a simple knock-out format?

5. Is there any information on the rules when you play these Championship games? Are the games standard 5 mins per half, are lob's allowed, etc (as you can turn a lot of these off under the options)

Anything else, please fill me in

Cheers

EDIT - can see above states about playing to the 2015 rules and I think I found them here:

Thanks for the reply, Lee. I will start an equipment thread, shortly, to ensure we have enough kit.

No, sorry, Lee. Called in on the way home from work and I was frazzled!
I can post some links for other local stayeries tonight, if it helps.
