I'll also be there this year! I scored once against Gianni Torchio which makes me the strongest KO2 player from Venice :D

Mike (r.cross) asked the "Voitsberg" guys if we´ll attend because it´s just a 7 hours trip with the car :eeko:
After that discussion Mike destroyed me in a few KO games.... :P

Hello everyone,

I'd like to attend this year's tournament as I wasn't able to join last year in Dublin (I learnt about it way too late).
Though, as I haven't played in a very long time, I don't want to be too ridiculous and would like to train before traveling to Milan. Can you please let me know on which version the tournament will be held? Atari ST? Amiga? Emulator?

Will everyone have his/her own joystick? I'm planning on buying a speedking again. As I still have my Kick-Off 2 original game, I'm also considering maybe buying an Atari ST again so that I can train on my original computer. I've seen a couple of videos posted on this forum, I can say that I'm gladly surprised that I will be finally able meet that many people who can play that well Kick Off 2. Hope I can suprise some of you though... If my skills are willing to come back.

Does anyone play with scan sized up at max? Is it allowed? I know some of my challengers were bugged by that when I sized it up in my first and only Kick Off 2 tournament. Man I wish I could still have my training partner close to my home as training alone really doesn't feel the same.

Do I need to book the hotel room directly with them? I'm planning to arrive on Friday 11th, maybe Thursday 10th and leave on Monday 14th.

I can't wait! :) Have any French player attended tournament before?
Cheers!

Olivier

You are very much welcome!

We play only on amiga, bring your own joystick, scanner is default size unless both players agree on changing, do not worry much about your level, there are all kind of players in a WC.

And yes, i believe you will be our first french!

About the hotel, there will be probably news soon. At least I am waiting for a separate thread. Just book your flights right now.

Hi Oliver! welcome!
As Rodolfo said, World Cup are played on original Commodore Amiga 500 and Amiga 1200. we use also Commodore Monitos 14" and to keep the standard also CRT 14" TV with RGB scart to have the best picture. LCD TVs are banned.
Speedking joystick are easy and cheap to find on ebay, hope you can find a good one, in case I can provide one as it is one of my favourite joystick and I have more than one here.
Scanner is normally set to standard but, if both players agree, it is allowed to change size. Some players don't mind the size, others instead prefer to stay on the standard.
About room booking, details about KOA official hotel are written in the main post of this thread. Tomorrow I open a new thread for rooms booking to give more details and record the rooms booked so far. good Idea to stay more days. you can mix to visit the city and the tournament!
Actually a couple of French joined tournaments in the past, but you would be the first one to join a World Cup!

By the way, I will arrive on thursday night, hoping to do some sightseeing on friday morning. If you (and everyone else) finally arrive on thursday too, and want to take a walk on friday, it would be great.

Hi!

Thanks for all your answers. Amiga it will be then, just like on my first and only Kick Off 2 tournament.
I'm really curious about the French players who joined previous competitions.
Where were they from? How old were they?

I'll buy one or two speedking then. I used to break them really fast, mainly because of Kick Off 2 by the way.
Now... I need to get my hands on an Atari ST soon to start my training. :)

And I don't need to book my flight, I'm going to drive all my way to Milan as I live in Grenoble in the French Alps.
It's only a 4h hours roadtrip. I guess I'll leave directly from my office to Milan on Thursday, so yes, some sightseeing/walking on Friday would be very nice. It will be my first time in Milano.

I'll go through all the videos posted here in order to spot all the tricks you guys can have. -_^,
See you soon then! :)
