Hmmm, don't know how wise this would be. Sent you a pm.

But I do have a few favours to ask and will PM you if that's okay.

Sure, fire away ! :)

Fully appreciate the offer of help Danny and hope my advice to you about your world cup was helpful (wrote a long piece to Pedro). Yep, indeed it would be foolhardy to ignore previous work which is why I said on the main post we’d be contacting every single attendee of previous world cups :)
This applies to organisers also and since then I’ve contacted you asking for the mail chimp contacts – this would be awesome mate – and we can then add them to the list we have from the 10 years we’ve been organising tournaments.
We did this back in 2011 and 2016 will be no different.

About Twitter…our Twitter account was created back in 2011 and we also have specific followers who’re into Kick Off. We will engage with any extra users you have and thus give us the chance to illustrate the effort we’re making with one to one contact to get new players. As we said in the bid, no stone will be left unturned.

About the website… yours is cracking but when you type in Kick Off 2, the main site which comes up in the first few searches is this one (KOA), so the main site is still this one and a link on the first page will as ever, be key. Brand identity is important and as with every world cup, it’s a capsule of the years world cup so as with every single previous world cup, we will be doing our own – but with a twist! Gotta leave some surprises! ;)

We also have a group on Facebook for Kick Off 2 which has nearly 200 users with a specific interest in Kick Off 2 and we’ll be using that too as others did to post information on Dublin 2015 :)

Good call.

My only (extra) advice would be to use as many channels as we've got, to sell and inform about the event.

Hi Steve,
yes me and you had a 1-5 and a 2-3 according to my records so maybe I'll get a point next time!
This is ace, sounds like you've got it all in hand.
On leaving early, from various forum posts before the Dublin tournament I had the impression my games would all be wrapped up by Sunday teatime, so booked my flight accordingly - and indeed mine were, so that was fine. I appreciate it's difficult to organisers to fix tournament start and end times.
It's my wife's birthday on 15 November so I can't commit to the tournament just yet...

If you build it, I will come! This sounds like it would be a great World Cup, and for me personally the dates are good as it allows me to spend Halloween with my kids (big in the US).

With Steve Camber fixing the potential exploit of holding down the fire button in order to trap the ball easily, we don't foresee an issue with competitors using the APT menu as they wish.
So normal KOA rules, A=B, no wind and users able to use APT menu.
.

With the risk of playing Devils Advocate;
For the last many years, the "normal" KOA rules have been A=B, no wind, Autofix enabled, pbd-choice, Trapfix off (with freedom to make individual arrangements if both players agree).
And considering Trapfix on/off makes a huge difference, a vote for this question would be a good thing to take into consideration.

Of course reading the bid I lingered over that. And I decided to pass over it then.
I think that the bid that SteveE and the Birmingham guys are offering is something very good for the KOA, something the KOA needs.
On the other side I know that Steve and the Birmingham crew really don't deal with the trap algorithm and they prefer the simplified version.
I know that playing with the simplified version I lose something. Also in terms of gaming fun, as I really like the gameplay that the original trapping algorithm induces. But, for what I concern, I accept the compromise, it is something I can live with.

I also find the bid to be of an amazing quality, and it sure seems like we're looking at an exceptional world cup next year.
And if the general consensus is what Gianni says I'm fine with that. I've tried the Trapfix, and I like it.
I've just wanted to keep it off due to

- it not being clarified as an actual bug

- you should be able to train for the world cup using your original ko2-disc

and that

- avoiding the "trap-slide" is something you can learn to master.

But as said, if consensus is that it's a good compromise, then let's go :)
